Based on what? Have you owned one and a completely superior intake to know this?

2000 model is vvti...Oh and btw, yes I have had this intake before the turbo. Doesn't really do much but add sound. It is turned back toward the exhaust manifold where it is very hot and hot air is bad for an intake system. Not worth the money at all...Unless you just want sound and dress for your engine bay.

you could get another RAI like the injen for about 1/10 of its price just search ebay they just came in stock from "bestcarpart" you'll get the same results and the injen one and you'll be saving a bundle...

im planning on getting a injen heatshield for my RAI to reduce some heat and maybe get my headers wrapped.

That's all in your head. Fact is, there isn't a good intake for our cars! Point blank, it's just a waste of money so yeah, I would just keep the drop in filter if I was you. Prolly the best intake out there is the AEM V2 but they dont make it for Corolla's.

I wont back up the Injen intake for Corolla's until I see before and after dyno graphs!

the bomz racing RAI brings both the MAF sensor port and the vacume sensor port...

i've heard header wrap is bad also... like from 1 guy everyone else says they're great...

Get what I have. The EL Prototypes CAI. I've had it for almost 2 years now. I really noticed a difference. Not more than 5 hp though, even for a CAI. It might add more if its on a colder day. I had to hack off a section of it cuz it was a bit too long. The filter wouldn't clear the rainguard.

P.S. I agree with those against the RAI. I've had my share of RAIs and they suck. The intake pipe heats up fast and stays hot. Only looks good if that and lots of noise. Stick with your drop in(i didn't know HKS made drop in filters for our cars) or get a CAI.

i had an intake. it was a replica of the injen intake made by bomz racing. i am unhappy with the design. it leads back to exhaust manifold where the air gets hot like theres no tomorrow. I would not recommend anyone getting the injen and bomz intake. the design is definitely flawed. I've heard that the U shaped intakes made for the 03+ corollas would fit but the battery would have to be reolcated.

I only cut off about 3 inches or so. The filter fits perfect now and I put my stock bumper back on instead of my ck1 cuz of the cops. So now my rainguards cover up the intake better. I wouldn't worry about the puddle. You have to really submerge the filter in water before it suck in water. If you're really worried though you can use a hack saw, cut the intake in half and install an AEM bypass valve. I live in california so it rarely rains and when it does still no problem. 2 years problem free.

Even my CAI doesn't give me that much gain. What you are feeling is placebo hp my friend. A half second difference would be more of a 20 hp increase, MAYBE...

the bypass valve actually works. if you do it my way like i said in my first post, you save 100% of your intake funds, and you get a near 100% safe CAI.
