it's not paint...it's polished aluminum. up close, from what i've seen in pics, the finish isn't all that great...too many swirls in the finish.

just get a set of KYBs and replace them yourself...you can do it in a house garage(or on a parking pad, lol) if you have the right tools.

that's why Eric recommended KYB, i'm guessing...their OEM replacement strut is pretty cheap.
