Looking for shipping companies to send 150+lbs...

Does anyone know a good shipping company that can ship a 150+lb pallet from west coast to east coast? I'm trying to get some parts for my car sent over this way, but can't find any place that doesn't want to charge an arm and a leg.

The least expensive freight forwarder that we use is Cavalier Logistics https://www.cavlog.com/ They have a main office behind IAD (Dulles International Airport here in NoVA).

They will ship pretty much anything and they keeps costs pretty reasonable because they don't actually ship the stuff themselves - they add on cargo to commerical flights or ground carriers and find the best prices.

We've used them to ship thousands of pounds of stuff - and it is cheap. I think last time we shipped 4 -1500lbs crates overnighted from east coast to west coast for $6K total. If you get that delivery time shifted to the right - price drops tremendously.

Problem is - I'm not sure if they still deal with the private customers, may have switched completely over to commercial customers due to the volume of shipping done per calender year. be worth a call - shipping quotes are free.

Well, I'm buying a transmission for $250, so I don't want to be paying the same cost (or close to) that of which I'm purchasing. Does $125 - $150 shipping sound like a realistic goal? I don't really have a rush on it, so if it takes longer for less, I'm fine with that.

That's pretty realistic goal for shipping - especially if you are not in a hurry to get it.

Might try DHL - as they generally have pretty good prices on freight pieces. Last time I used them, residential to residential, it ran about $90 to ship a 150lb worth of transmission bits (transfer case) in a Rubbermaid storage box from the West Coast to the East Coast via ground shipping. I think I got it inside of a week - don't remember, might have been a couple of days longer.

Sweet. Yeah, I'm in no rush. I have to wait for the machine shop to get all the work done to my block before I can put the transmission on anyway.

Just out of curiosity, why do you need another tranny? Are you planning on converting your matic to manual?

Where did you bought that tranny? Is it a manual or matic? Not bad for $250

    thanks,

No, my transmission has some issues from when a con-artist mechanic blew up the engine 4 years ago. It's been slipping and rough shifting, and is more noticeable with the turbo in. I'm getting Travis's beefed up auto transmission to do a direct swap since I don't have the time or desire to do a manual swap right now.
