like i said, said somebody put it on your windshield, and somebody stole your drivers license

say you went to a party because you heard about it, you know no one there, and since you're over 21, say you were drinking a lil and passed out, the next day you woke up, your couldn't find your driver license in your wallet, say you dont carry creidt cards or anything else but a lil cash, like $20 bux, and they stole the cash too along with your drivers license, haha! remember cops have a camera in their car! so unless the camera got your face or your voice, then this plan could work! booya! but usually everyones voice sounds the same, so unless your voice is noticable, this plan could work! good luck! lol.....

???? Does NY have a "guilty with explanation" option?

That is the lamest, stupidest thing in the entire fucking world.

Remember, the cops have a camera in their car?? Unless the camera got your face, this could work???? Uhm......are you retarded? You seem to forget that the camera would record the entire car with the license plate and all.....and the cop would remember the driver. You also seem to forget that drivers license have pictures on them......lol. So someone that looks like you stole your entire car, and your drivers license.....yet ya never reported your car stolen....wow......this is mind boggling.

Wow.....I think your post takes the cake for the most retarded statement ever posted on the history of the internet.

Please tell me you were joking.

somebody here tried that line of defence... only it wasn't a speeding ticket.. they actually hit killed a guy on his bike, after he hit him he called and reported his car stolen, then drove his car home, when the cops came to question him about his car they saw his truck (that had aparently been stolen) in his drive way... damage and all from hititng a guy, so unless your willing to actually give up your lisence for a wile and your car for a LONG time, file an insurance clame, ummmm at least a day before you got your ticket (oh wait this has passed already) then I'd say go in pay your dam ticket and leave us the hell out of it... oh and slow your ass down next time... :)

there's so many people at the municipal courts here that if you plead not guilty, they make you an offer of reduced fine and points taken away so that they can get you over with and not have to deal with ya.

I mean, ok yeah you got a ticket, big deal we all have, and BTW... 70 to 80 is fast in a 55MPH zone, you were speeding you were actually going fast enough to get your lisance taken away here in colorado, 25 over is all it takes, so consider our self lucky...

Wasnt this an out of state ticket though?

25 over in Virginia is reckless driving, and its not uncommon to get a few days jail time because of it. Virginia is tough.

Be a man about it, and do the right thing. You were speeding, plain and simple. Take some damn responsibility for your actions.

well i would say most of the people on that highway were probably going 65-70 in that zone. im not in colorado so i dont care what happens there.

okay so everyone's had a ticket before...... what's your point?

anyway, the highway changed from 65 to 55 and i must have not noticed since there were a lot of cars to watch for and must have overlooked the speed limit sign.

I don't think I've ever denied I was speeding over the speed limit anywhere on my thread. I am taking responsibility for it, what are you talking about? Stop getting all pissy and shit over this. I'm just asking some questions. Don't answer if you're gonna get your panties up in a bunch like you always do in other threads with Barnacules.

I was just giving an example of what happens in my state.. if you go 25 or over... I'm sure your state has similer penilties for speeding, like e. said. his state has jail time mine has loss of lisence, infact... tis is from new york traffic laws... The law permits a 15 day jail sentence for 11 MPH over the speed limit.

    New yourk state traffic laws..

And we've answered your questions. True, you never denied speeding over the limit, but your consistantly trying to come up with excuses about it.

Go into the court and say "Judge, everyone else was speeding as well" and tell us what he says. Or go in and say "Judge, I didnt see that the sign went from 65 to 55"...I bet he says "well, you were still going 15 over if you thought it was 65."

You should get your story straight too, because now you say you must not have noticed that the speed decreased? Before you said the cop wrote down the wrong speed limit.

Why try to weasle your way out of it? You say it was out of state.....just pay the fine. It wont transfer over to your state since its not a major moving violation. You going into court would probably amount to more than the fine anyways....taking an entire day to go to wherever the court is (out of state), gas, etc.

No one is getting their panties in a bunch. You asked questions, they were answered, and youre still looking for ways to someone how get out of it, when you know that you made a mistake. Live up to the mistake and take responsibility for your actions instead of trying to make the cop look like he was wrong.

i thought it was a 65 mph zone but i went through the same highway again after fall semester was over and i wanted to know if it was indeed a 65mph zone or a 55mph zone. I honestly thought it was a 65mph zone. I'm not trying to weasle out of anything, they are JUST QUESTIONS. I have NEVER gotten a ticket before so I don't know anything about them. I don't know if I can get off with a mistake in writing down the license plate or if i should plead not guilty if it was the wrong speed limit. Like I said, I know now the area I was pulled over at was a 55mph zone because I had to go through the same area again. I'm not making shit up which is what you guys are probably thinking.

let's say it WAS a 65mph zone. would you plead guilty if he wrote it was a 55mph zone? i recall you saying if this is infact the situation, you advised me to bring that to the court's attention. did you not? here you are pretty much going against your own advice.

what exactly does 'pledge no contest' mean? is that the same thing as pleading guilty?

Yes, if it WAS a 65 mph zone, and he wrote it down as you speeding through a 55mph zone, you should contest it. Im not going against anything. At first you said he wrote it down wrong, now youre saying its a 55 zone. That mistake is one of the only mistakes that I would recommend you going to court for. The 10 mph difference could be more fines and more points. Are you saying that you got this ticket last week, and have since gone bak to check the signs? Your claim that you thought it was a 65mph zone wont hold up in court either.

No, the mistake on the ticket regarding your license plate WILL NOT get you out of the ticket.

No contest (Nolo contendre) isnt pleading guilty or not guilty. It basically means that you dont want to contest the charges, though you arent really admitting to doing anything wrong.

Id suggest calling up the court that issued the citation and ask what your options are.

In MD you have a few choices...guilty, not guilty, or guilty with explanation, which if you have a clean record, usually leads to PBJ (Probation before judgment). Oh, the officer does not have to show up for guilty with explanation pleas).

You get nothing for PBJ..usually let off scott free. Youre on probation though, so any other violations within a year will bring your first offense back.
