    Best and Cheapest GPS solutions?

I've been thinking about getting my wife a GPS for the Lexus since she drives all over the place but can't decide which one to get. I want it to be portable, have an internal battery so it can be hand held and be able to speak turn by turn directions, but I don't want to pay more than $800 for one. If anyone has a unit that has these features please post a little review about it. I have looked at the Garmin and Tom Tom units and they look pretty nice but I'm having a hard time deciding which one to get. I already have a GPS in my car (Streets and Trips 2006 & GPS Mouse) and it works pretty well but the CarPC can be a little bit of a pain to operate while driving so another requirement of this unit I'm looking for is that it needs to be easy to operate while driving.

tomtom works very well. you can buy used ones for under 600.

im talking about the 910. you can get the lower model if you dont want bluetooth or cf storage.

Thanks Sean, I'll check it out. I would defiantly want the CF storage.

i use the garmin streetpilot i3 at $299.

it's a bit small but it gets the job done. i never make long trips to unfamiliar places w/o it. i feel naked driving without it.

Yeah, I'm always getting lost in unfamiliar places. I'm going to check out the streetpilot since it's so cheap. I could get one for my wife and me for the price of the Tom Tom. But i'll see which has the features I need first.

i believe the $349 dollar version (c330 or c320 i believe, which my uncle uses for his suv) tells you a bit more than the i3 (and its bigger)..nothing that you really absolutely MUST have tho (tells you max speed which i have to erase before he wakes up if i drive his SUV since he doesnt want me going over 80..lol, it speaks in different languages).

Thats pretty sweet. For $349 it sounds like a good deal too.

I got my mcgellan from radio hut for 199. works well. The only thing you're missing from the more expensive units is built in bluetooth (i already have a headset), voice command, and live traffic (has annual fee, i dont use it enough to justify it).
