Little girl flashes knife as she tries to steal toys

    http://www.tampabays10.com/news/local/article.aspx?storyid=43737

Largo, Florida - Largo Police are looking for a little girl who pulled a knife on a Wal-Mart clerk as she tried to steal two boxes of Lego toy blocks.

It happened on the Missouri Avenue around 9:00 pm Tuesday night.

Police say the 7 to 8-year-old girl hid the toys under her coat and tried to walk out the door.

A store employee was watching and approached the child, asking her to turn over the Lego blocks.

Police say the little girl then opened her jacket and displayed a combo carving knife with a forked point and a 10" blade, saying she was armed for protection.

The employee talked the girl into putting down the knife and the toys.

The girl then rode away on her bicycle.

    The employee was not hurt.

The employee should have pulled an NYPD Cop move and put 50 rounds in her (actually 11 rounds in her and 39 rounds in near by buildings)

An 8 year old girl? She got away on her bicycle? I could probably run faster and just push her off the damn bike. She'll be on the floor crying lol. Or you could always have another employee come up from behind and drop kick her.

Not really, you can say it was for your protection. If someone flashed a 10" blade at me and if I could take (doesnt matter if they were a little kid) Id knock their ass out. If she is old enough to rob a store and carry knives for protection, then shes old enough to get her ass beat.

Try explaining that to a jury..most likely consisting of people that have kids themselves. The clerk talked her out of the knife and the girl left on her bicycle.

Nah, you would win hands down in court as long as you had security footage of her brandishing the knife first before you kicked the shit out of her :D

CadetLee, you seem like a guy that likes to win an argument, go find us the Federal or State Local Law would prevent you from kicking a minors ass if they held you at gun or knife point :D

Eric, If CadetLee can't find it I know you can :) One thing you have demonstrated time and time again on this forum is that you have seen %99 of the internet and I'm sure that law is out there somewhere ;)

End of argument. And I dont need to search the internet to find self defense laws...Ive studied law.

As long as you stopped as soon as the knife was seperated from her. And in that situation, unless you were cornered between her and the wall, no jury would side with you for "beating the shit out of her". In self defense, you have to use only the amount of force necessary to seperate yourself from the situation.
If they were standing in the toy aisle, and she brought out the knife, and you could walk away from her, thats what you do. There would be no justification for "beating the shit out of her".

That being told, I have a feeling that youd be the type of person to piss your pants if someone pulled a knife out on you.

Where did you study self defense law and what degree do you hold in it? Or was this sentense just fancy talk for I read Wikipedia.org :D And c-mon, you should know by now that whn you say End of argument most people just giggle and continue as I am doing right now :p

I asked you to state the law, can you give us a paragraph number in some legal document so we can confirm this data? It still sounds like your just speaking from your interpretation of what the law might be. I would like to verify your source of this data and also I would like to know if it is a State law or Federal law.

Wow, this came out of left field. What do you base this on? I was not aware that you could tell a persons defensive capaibilities simply by reading text in a forum  Anyways, the only way you will ever know is to come to Washington and pull a knife on me and see if you make it out alive :) I wouldn't recommend it though ;)

My "interpretation" of the law is correct. Any self defense explanation will include some variation of the following: "Use of force is justified when a person reasonably believes that it is necessary for the defense of oneself or another against the immediate use of unlawful force. However, a person must use no more force than appears reasonably necessary in the circumstances.

Force likely to cause death or great bodily harm is justified in self-defense only if a person reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent death or great bodily harm."

So my explanation of what is and what is not justifiable while your standing in the aisle of a store, or an alleyway, etc is correct.
And I have an associates degree in Criminal Justice, in addition to my BA in Communications. Ive been through the process of becoming a police officer.........You dont see me spouting out information about engine internals, or computer stuff, because I dont have deep knowledge about those fields. Im not just pulling this information off of "wikipedia.org".

Post up that pic of you on your wedding day again.

Hmmm, still no source :D I'm sure you'll eventually find and post it. I'm waiting. And if Avatars on a forum display your defensive capaibilities then you obviously have none (with the canadian flag and all) :D Anways post your source, I'm still waiting.

Florida is one of the few states that have "Stand your Ground" clauses in their self defense laws. (Florida is one of those states btw)
Even so, "The Florida law authorizes the use of defensive force by anyone "who is not engaged in an unlawful activity and who is attacked in any other place where he or she has a right to be." Furthermore, under the law, such a person "has no duty to retreat and has the right to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force if he or she reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another or to prevent the commission of a forcible felony." The statute also grants civil and criminal immunity to anyone found to have had such a reasonable belief.[1]"

Now, show me a court that would side with you....."Your honor, I was standing in that toy aisle, and the 7 year old flashed a knife. I believe that me stomping her head into the ground (instead of running away from her) was my only course of action to prevent her from taking my life".

YOUR state does not have the "Stand your Ground" clauses. So youd be shit out of luck bud.

You can keep trying to make ME look like the wrong person here, but youll be trying for a long time.

Like I said before....stick to computer shit.
