Dunno. I didn't see anyone laughing much. Is he a racist? maybe not, but I think he did take it a bit far. There's a way to handle hecklers but he went a step too far. notice everyone started to leave.

    **edit**
I just got to work and I told one of my co-workers about the video. And since he's in the comedy thing more then me, he told me that he found out that he is no longer allowed to perfrom at the Laugh Factory.

nah, i dont take the racist tone from him but his delivery was all wrong... i've seen *SO* many other comedians delivering racial based comedy and they don't catch anything for it... oh thats right, they're guys like carlos mencia, chris rock, dave chappelle, etc... so does that mean its okay for every comedian of any nationality except a white guy to drop the term ' nigga ' or ' nigger ' ??? --- i'd have to see what led up to that however to make a better assumption about what went on though. thats only delivering what he said that has been talked about. something from about 5 minutes prior leading up to the event shown would probably tell the rest of the story. he may have been out of line or he may not have been.

on the side note, i think people are fucking too uptight. who cares if someone uses a racial comment at you? they're trying to spark a reaction out of you when they use it, so why give it to them? ya gotta let shit like that roll off ya, hell a large chunk of the time someone might use an otherwise racial term without intending harm at all, but people get all blown up about it and i'm sorry, its primarily african americans that get their nose out of joint about it. fuckin just let it go. between people trying to be politically correct and people getting all butt hurt over some comments, they all look like asses.

Looks like he said it out of anger. In which case, it wasn't really part of his act nor was it a joke. In that case, I agree with the Laugh Factory banning him and everyone leaving. He could of easily acted professional about it or even added comedy to it. but if he admits he went into a rage then he's definately crossed the line.

And honestly, this isn't a nationality thing. If it were a black person or a spanish person going off on a white person or whomever, the way this guy did, then I'm sure they would of suffered the same consenquences.

Oh and just look at the whole Mel Gibson thing. He went off about Jewish people and ALOT of jewish people took that personally. So its not primarily black people taking things to heart. When you insult someone's nationality or whatever, they have a right to get mad. Especially, if they haven't done anything to insult your culture or nationality. Some people just have tougher skin then others.

Simply telling a Racist joke or calling someone a racist term doesn't make you racist. It might make you a dumb ass, but not racist...

Nah, it really wasnt that bad. If you compare it to lots of other comics that have used this in their act, its not all that bad.

And the video conveniently leaves out the heckling that was occuring BEFORE this that initially pissed Richards off, which was disrupting his act. (Disrespectful in its own self)

In situations like this, most revert to the bottom of the barrel...throwing out whatever will insult the other person. Its not okay for him to use the N word, but its okay for the blacks involved to return the favor by calling him a peckerwood (insult to whites), and a cracker? How hypocritical is that?

The first insult towards the blacks, everyone was laughing....same with the second. Then he took it a little too far....but no farther than many other long time and well known comics.

If Chris Rock got generically heckled by some white guys and responded with a cracker, KKK, whitey tirade, mentioning some historical white atrocities, what would the public response have been? I'm guessing little or nothing. Further, if there was a response, I'd expect it most likely would be that the white audience members were racist for not allowing Rock to do his show in peace and they provoked him into it. Due to Rock's ethnicity and it's history of abuse at the hands of the white man, his outburst was unavoidable.

Richards' outburst was insensitive, offensive and out of line. Racist by definition just by virtue of the content. However, it was the act of a single man under some level of stress, real or imagined. I find the outcry much more offensive because it is being used to pepetuate the white wronging black mentality as the mode of our country. A continuation of all the old problems and silent to all improvements made over the decades. Turn the tables as I describe in the first paragraph and that situation is viewed as an unavoidable result of the old problems and is excusable. At what point do you keep a strong sense of historical perspective, yet deal with daily life for what it is, today's reality, not yesterday's problems.

I think all references to race in an offensive, hostile manner are out of line. What's wrong with just insulting someone for the scum man/woman that they are? Black americans don't have the market cornered into perpetuity for single offensive words that can't be spoken by humans outside their race. White people of today are not the slavemasters of the 1700-1800's and don't deserve to be hung with any type of racial slur or reference any more than today's blacks should be.

And it always amazes me when a black person will revert back to "anything that is said against us is racist" argument. They fired right back with remarks against white people. Are they racist as well?

Richards declined the offer to be present for this, but his requests to meet the two in person privately have been denied as well.

Seems like a lot of fluff coming from those two.

If he had said "F-You N%$^#&", ALL of the humor wouldve been gone. There is no way that anyone would be laughing at the "50 years ago" joke that came afterwards.

Id like to see the ENTIRE video...it seems that they are not showing some of it.

he appeared on Letterman and apologized for what happened. He said he wasn't a racist and that he just went into a rage. When letterman asked if he was heckled or it was just them speaking to each other that got him like that, he responded with "It was both". So they heckled him and continued to talk during his performance. Either way, he still took it a bit far and he acknowledges that.

I read that he was going to sit down with Al Sharpen to see what can be done. I think Al Sharpen's intentions are different because he wants to use this as an example on how racist outbursts can be prevented or something.

I gotta find the video that shows him on Letterman...i saw it hte other day and didn't think about posting it.

He was also on Jesse Jacksons radio show. Jesse Jackson, unlike Sharpton, wanted to get to the heart of the matter and try to make some good out of it. Sharpton, like his usually greedy ass self, wants to better the black man and bring down the whiteys that are doing the blacks injustice. Hes all over the NYPD shooting as well.

The two hecklers are out for money, plain and simple. They say that Kramer has declined meeting them in person. Kramer says that he has tried to set up private meetings, and even looked for them that night.

This entire thing has been blown up more than it should have. Its ridiculous.

Letterman video is all over youtube.

Lets stir the pot and look at this in the context of michael irvins comments re; the Dallas Cowboys QB Romo. I believe he said (and i am paraphrasing) that the QB (who is white) must gotten his athletic ability from a black man his great or great-great grand mother must have slept with on the plantation. This was said on national TV, not in some small comedy club. I was deeply offended that it was suggested that white people can not be athletic, and are inferior to blacks in terms of athleticism. Now I want some of his money.
