Since it first came out. The LS460 is the regular model with the new 4.6L V8. The LS600h is the hybrid model with a 5.0L V8. The LS600h isn't out yet. For now it's just the LS460 and LS460L.

I gotta tell you - spatial recognition and pulling information out of 2D imagery coupled with depth telemetry from ultrasonic sensors is non-trival matter. The amount of processing power and algorithm development is staggering. For them to even remotely think about doing this takes some serious amount of programming, even with driver input. The BMW system is supposed to be completely autonomous (driver gets out - car parks itself) - is a programmer's and hardware integrator's worst nightmare come true. Still, it is going to be very cool to see how far they go with this. Be interested to see if they use my company's image recognition algorithms to "see" parking spots - now that would be cool.

Yah. Lexus is one of the first automakers to even offer the system so expect there to be faults. I heard its better at parellel parking than perprendicular parking. Either way all reviews state that by the time you punch in all the info, you could have parked it yourself and already be inside the building.

Look at that one comment by OctaneZ28. What a retard lol. By the time american automakers even offer the system, japenese cars will be driving themselves.

Saturn is suppose to come out with the first self driving car in 2008....now this puts a blunder on the whole automotive industry as to who will be held at fault in the event of an accident....im sure it will still be the driver...

Btw, thanks for the info bladder master....didnt kno that, lol...

Ive seen videos years ago somewhere in the uk where a VW van was doing like a track course drving byitself. Of course there was no driver side because that hold thing was basically a giant computer. And there were cameras all around the side. It was pretty cool. The van was inside the cones at all times going at least 40mph.

^^well the thing I heard about the self driving feature that theyre coming out with is that the roads have to be marked and well defined...i wonder if it would kick itself off after it runs into umarked construction or something...

Yup most likely. Self driving cars are more dangerous than a car driven by a human. The human actually has control over the car while if there is a malfunction with self driven car, guess what, your toast.
