So, Cingular's finally announced their 8525 -- what a relief. As we suspected, it'll set you back $399 (with two year contract -- sorry, no price yet listed with 1 year or no contract) when it launches November 16th but LAPTOP has the first official review of the unit, which resulted in a 4/5 star rating. There isn't really much to tell here that one didn't already know (except that the ok key underneath the wheel is now a deactivated Push-to-Talk button), but just in case you hadn't been following the Hermes, it's generally regarded as a pretty slick piece of kit. Outside of the usual software package, you can, of course, hook up with MobiTV, Good, and any other supported services on Cingular's network. We definitely take issue with the five hour talk time, though, our Hermes is lucky to get a couple (and with data, forget about it). Still, for your $400 you're unlikely to find a hotter Pocket PC phone on the US market.

Does the 700 have HSPDA? HSPDA is a 3G data connection that only Cingular has as of yet in the US. Data speeds are comparable to DSL or Cable, meaning they're way better than either EDGE or EV-DO.

Also, the screen is bigger, the processor is faster and the keyboard is way more comfortable.

I use Cingular all the time in fact the parent company is based out of Atlanta so we tend to get everything first before the rest of Us does. I've seen this phone on action and my advice the treo is more user friendly since I have one for work and use it pretty well all the time. Your Right Cingular Edge technology is rather slow I use that in my Cell and it's no Dsl speed like my current Net but it does the job when required the only key reason I use this feature is to check email's....

I'm not knocking the Treos, since they're very good devices, but if I was in the market for a one, I personally wouldn't buy any of the 700 variants right now, because the 750 is coming out in January or so. That's why Verizon has been discounting the 700p and 700w so heavily recently.

    Just found this:
