custom brake setup

    custom brake setup

    So I did a search on ebay for wilwood calipers and there are lots of them at reasonable prices. It looks like lots of them are for racing (Is that a problem?). So then I went to wilwoods website to see whats available for toyotas and there are forged superlite kits for all of the scions, but no corollas/prizms (ebay has superlite calipers). There must be a way to set up brakes with bigger rotors and some wilwood 4 piston calipers. Hell, they have a kit for the suzuki aerio! I know sean2sean is selling wilwood goodies, but maybe theres a way to get a setup on a buget. The calipers are rotor diameter and thickness dependent, and what else would need to be known to know how/if they can be installed?

    Not tryin to flame or be rude or anything but, what is the point? Your rolla/prizim can get that much speed where you need beefed up brakes? IMO its just a waste of money. Spend it wisely elsewhere but if you really persist on gettin bigger brakes, contact wilwood or brembo, I do believe they can make custom kits but be ready to fork out a ton of cash for higher quality stuff.

    If I could pick up a set of calipers for few hundred bucks possibly and make them work with decent but not too highly priced rotors, then why not? But the point is, is it possible? And I guess the other point is that it would be pretty badass.

    yes it is possible but its your choice and depends on how you drive.i just upgrade my rear drums and like better than replacing warped rotors that i can't even take off due to over heating, which i have done in the past, the drums seem to work better when driving since they don't lock up as easily. thr rotors get glazed too quickly and smoke just billows from them pretty often.

    2nd that motion. anything to put disc on rear is handy, cheaper and time saver.

    Massive power is NOT a prerequesit for better brakes. Reduce brake fade and reduce brakeing distance is a must for any type of non straight line only racing. Just make sure you have the proper compound tires to back up the brakes.

    for the rears I think Prism GSI REAR DISC brakes will fit

    I'm in complete agreement that upgrading braking power matters.
    Thats a sweet site. $725 is alright for a front setup. I contacted them about seeing if dynalite calipers would fit beneath stock rims because I put my stock steelies back on in the winter. But if I seriously consider this (I wouldn't do it until I need to replace my current pads and rotors) maybe it would be best to get 15" steelies and winter tires.

    If I switched out the drums in the rear I wouldn't go with wilwoods.

    prism wont fit just like the 88-90 corolla gts wont fit without modifications

    but the brake shoes are no biggie for me since its what i work with pretty often, the durms that we have on the MIL-SPEC 7 Tons and after lifting a 170lbs drum the ones on a car are pretty easy.
