    new engine for our rollas

    http://www.greencarcongress.com/2006/06/toyota_outlines.html
    http://www.toyota.co.jp/en/news/06/0613.html

you can scroll to the bottom of the page...
    the 2ZR-FE
    stroke and bore go from 91.5mm x 79mm to 88.3 x 80.5
which means it will be more rev happy like the 2ZZ-GE but not as much
power will be approx. 135HP, no torque figures are given though
I just hope it has better aftermarket support than the 1ZZ-FE had...
and if it is old news then :p

    did I mentioned the CVT?
    NO DIRECT INJECTION YET >:&

CVT is gay. Go to a dealership and try driving a car with one. I wasn't impressed at all with their performance.

not sure. I drove an Audi one and it was complete crap. it felt like an automatic tranny but with even more slack and a huge lack of power. I had it in 'performance mode' too, where you can set the bands at specific intervals to supposedly give you more power.

It *felt* slower because the engine is staying steady at the same RPM, so you don't get the pull you normally do, but overall, its faster vs a set ratio transmission...

yup, so much for the pull and let go :p

I like the 1zz-fe with my 3 speed

    1st gear, 0mph to 40mph...
    2nd 41mph ~ 65mph...
    3rd 65mph to drag :p

    1zz-fe are good engines...
    they haul!

    mmm... need... s/c....

CVT-Continuously Variable Transmission... it basically varies the gearing continuously so that its always running at the lowest RPM possible (when just cruising) or it will continually keep the revs at the power peak (when flooring it)... basically, instead of being set in 4~6 set gear ratios, a CVT can always vary the gear ratio for the best one for the specific condition your in...

140hp and above and high torque figures would be better if the 10th gen goes on sale next year.

Yeah, 140hp is definitely needed now, especially since the Civic has 140 now... i'd like to see a base engine being that 1.8 mentioned above with 136hp and geared towards gasm ileage... and have a middle engine, like a 2.0 with 170hp... and bring back the turbos... 2.0 turbo... 225hp... yah, that sounds right...
