    Rotors or Pads?

What would proved better braking: a slotted/drilled rotor and "ok" pads or a plain rotor and good pads?

neither one would work well, both would be just as mediocre.

with slotted and ok pads the pads would just get eaten really quick.

with good pads and plain rotors the pads would overheat with any hard amout of braking and fade to nothing pretty quick.

    Why even consider either scenario?

The price difference between Good pads and"ok" pads is minimal at best.

    I disagree.

So youre saying if you have oem rotors, you should get cheap pads? How would that make sense? Explain to me how the "good" pads would overheat, but the other pads wouldnt

    huh??

oem pads are actually better on our cars, well at least i know this for the 04, that they have the ceramic composite brakes, and plain rotors are your best shot

get hawk HPS pads and be done with it. but know that you gotta replace them every 20K and they arent cheap. it'll brake a lot better tho

I'm looking for new rotors and pads and, during my search, the question just popped into my head. Pretty much, what does each component add to the braking ability? Are the pads more responsible for the braking performance or are the rotors (within a given size)?

I know that the pads and rotors work together (some better than others) but are they equal in the braking equation?

That being said, is there a noted increase in performance from a plain rotor to a slotted or drilled? And within that, a difference between slotted and drilled?

I'm just trying to understand a little bit about braking...
