The thing about it though was he wasn't pushing his luck this time. He was doing some childrens show because he had the day off of shooting "Worlds deadliest w/e"

Damn, this actually ruined my day :( I'm a huge huge huge fan of Steve Irwin. My wife and I have watched his show for years. I'm usually not this sad when a celebrity goes but he was something else. R.I.P Steve.

Well actually the thing he was shooting at the time was for another one of his shows called "The Ocean's Deadliest"...but wait, so you're saying that he wasnt pushing his luck, although he was shooting for a show called the ocean's deadliest??..

Thats exactly what I'm saying, but then again I took the time to read the article which said this: "irwin was in the area to film pieces for a show called "The Ocean's Deadliest" with Philippe Cousteau, grandson of Jacques, according to Irwin's manager and friend John Stainton. But weather had prevented the crew from doing work for that program, Stainton said,SO IRWIN DECIDED TO DO SOME FEATURES FOR A NEW CHILDREN'S TV SHOW HE WAS DOING WITH HIS DAUGHTER, BINDI" I guess I was just pushing my luck though assuming everyone knew the facts.

good man I say. he did what he loved with passion, and, to me, it was something Worth doing. something with a true tangible purpose. heres some lighthearted comedy over the occurence.

He wasnt pushing his luck though....he got stung by the sting ray in the ONE spot on his body that could cause death. If it had pierced him ANYWHERE else on his body, he would still be alive.

Yeah, when I get my dive certification they told us about sting rays and how they are not a threat and all this because they don't attack divers. This was just a total freakshow accident where the ray must have felt pinned down and scared. And like you said, it got him in the Only place that could have killed him. Sad... I heard on that radio this morning that the police said that he pulled the barb out of his chest before he died. I actually hope his wife decides to have the video destroyed because I don't think i could handle watching it.

Oh yeah the media better not get hold of it. that would be such a crappy thing to do.
Yeah I was really upset when I found out too; moreso than when another celeb dies. :( His show was awesome, and he had such courage and confidence to do what he did for a living over and over. I heard he helped contribute to so many sactuaries and zoos and whatnot.
What a sad loss. Not only did he die doing what he loved (not that it wasn't untimely) but he was fortunate enough to find and marry a woman that loved him and shared his love for animals in the manner he did.

A very blessed man in my book.

I hear that his wife has the final say in whether the video is released or not.

I heard the same thing... I'm pretty sure that she is going to order it destroyed. I don't think I could handle watching footage of a loved one die on TV every day for years to come and you know that is what would happen.
