What exactly is the problem with coilovers on ebay? i don't mind paying a little more for ground control coilovers but what is the real difference? $300 is alot of extra money to pay simply to get rid of the "ricer bounce"

The cheapo crappy ones just dont worth a penny. Those are some sh!tty @ss coilover. Put buy them, you are putting your life and others' life in danger.

Yeah, coilovers are expensive for a reason. Certain brands are trusted for a reason. Go with JIC, ground control, or even zenn's coilovers from www.zennsuspension.com before you buy coilovers from ebay.

the reason you need is this.

spring rates on the el-cheapo coilovers are usually waaay off from what you'd expect. that, coupled with the fact that if you're too cheap to buy good coilovers, you'll most likely run your stock struts, which will blow, leaving you with a bouncy, dangerous ride.

next reason. the aluminum used in the perches and adjustors is crap. it'll bend, and oneday might actually break, dropping one corner of your car instantly. that could cause some problems eh?

Having the perch break while cruising down the highway is a scary thought.

Something similar happened to my brother's A4. The car was completely stock except for wheels, but one day one of the right front suspension arms broke, instantly dropping that corner of the car to the ground... He was scared shitless.

If anyone is thinking about buying one of the last generation A4's, DON'T!

i had r-1 racing coilovers and stock shocks, oh man, those sucked, then i put on tockico blues, and still had a ruff ride, so ruff that when your flying down the freeway and a lil bump in the road feels like you crashed your car up a curb, i then got tein springs, the ride is much better now, and the ride height is beautiful.

Well, R1 racing coilovers are cheap and too stiff, that's why your ride was so harsh. There's actually a pretty good writeup on coilovers here:
