    racing seat install

well i got a 1998 corolla and just ordered some off brand racing seats. i know there have been people around here that have done their own installs and someone who has bought corbeau seats + brackets. can i get some advice on how i would be able to install these myself or maybe if corbeau brackets would fit with off market seat?

I doubt the corbeau brackets will fit with off brand racing seats because the holes will be in slightly different locations. The way that I made mine is to take the stock brackets off of the stock seats. Then put two cross bars across the stock brackets which you then can drill holes in wherever you need to bolt the universal brackets for the new seats on top of. It's works essentially the same way as the brackets you have to buy. Here's a picture that gives you a idea:

With the Corbeaus, there is nothing really to tell, everything is direct bolt on! No easier said then that!

i think i am going to just buy corbeau brackets then maybe try to modify from there...it would definetly make it easier. removing the stock brackets seems to be pretty difficult in its own part....hmmm

Awesome, I need to do something like this to install my seats. Do your brackets move back and forth at all since there is so much space between the bolt and the other surface? Where do I get those metal strips and how did you center everything up. I've got my seats now I just have to install them :)

How in the hell do I get the base brackets off the stock seat? I need them so I can bolt them in the car and then put steel accross them to mount my new seats. I got them and now I'm just trying to figure out how to get them in the car :)

Does anyone know how the hell to get the brackets off the bottom of the seats. I want to do what SuperFly did but I can't figure out how to get the sliders to seperate.

Did you just use the bottom part of the bracket or did you use the whole bracket from the seat? I just want to remove the seat from the left and right base brackets so I can bolt some metal across them and mount the seat.
