make sure the bracket that holds the brake line in place is in a position that can not touch the axle boot at all. Mine was put on a certain way that tore my axle boot, making me have to buy a new axle. best way is to route it over the steering knuckle.

good thing people here is too cheap to buy even ksport/d2

I was thinking about getting d2's since i got a better job. but im already hitting shit with the sway bars at work (construction areas), and would be afraid to have it any lower.. so Ill just get a new car lol.

honest, i sure learned my lesson about buying cheap stuff. not that i usually do but too my chance at it and it's cost me an axle. maybe within a year if i still have money, i'll be thinking about getting another brand of coilovers.

eh.. even with a axle replacement you still save a lot more monies than if you went with a setup like mines.

omg its funny. the axle that i replaced the original with is like 1cm thicker. beefiness!

obviously you haven't seen these brackets that the ksport/d2 coilovers come with. here's a pic of them. its those black dillys on the top right


They're made of cheap flexable metal that are easily bent even by hand. On my part was negligence. i was replacing pads and rotors and during that, you should know that a lot of times the caliper will fall down. that leads to the brake line holding on the bracket being bent.

now if ksport/d2 had actually gone an extra step to have brackets for the lines welded on, this wouldn't have happened. i'm not too mad because the axle i replaced it with is thicker than the original by 1 cm maybe.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but shouldn't you replace both sides if you're going to have put on a bigger axle? 1cm isn't that big, but I would think a bigger and slightly heavier axle on one side would lead to increased torque steer.

Also, from a quick look on Ebay, D2 RS coilovers are going for around $1500, which is close to the MSRP for Tein Flex...

Same here, from what I've heard over on the Mazda 6 boards I wouldnt buy them either. Spend the $$ and buy some Teins / HKS etc.

JIC magic has some FLT-A2 coilovers for the 8th gen corolla.

They used to for the 98-02, but they were discontinued about two years ago. TIEN does offer the option for them to make you custom ones. And since they used to make them, i assume they still have he specifications they need and it should not take them long to make. I would assume they would cost about the same? I think they were 1,200 retail.

Interesting. I looked up on Teins website and for the 9th gen the smallest drop for the rear is like 1.1". I dont think I want to go that low for the rear. I normally have people sit in the back and I do not want to rub. Not sure if its any different on the 8th gen ones.

Tein offer SuperStreet and Flex for AE101 and AE111 in Japan.. they fit perfectly on 93-02 models in the US.
