Street Racing SUVS is flat out RETARDED

    Someone suggested starting this thread.......

Street Racing in general is pretty retarded, irresponsible, and dangerous, but street racing with an SUV is even MORE retarded, irresponsible, and dangerous.

    That is all :)

    Have fun!:D

What kind of a retard would race any SUV anywhere? There are no areodynamic advantages in using a big ass SUV, just more resistance. I found it funny that I could get SUVs in my Need for Speed Underground 2 lol. I had a Hummer but it sucked. Slow as hell.

Try racing a Porsche Cheyenne :) 0 - 62 in 5.1 seconds. For an SUV that is insane.

I think it would be hilarious to watch. They'll all tip over after the first corner.

Try making your car one second faster in 0-60. Let me know how much you spend.

Well, lets look at some facts..... http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/cayenne/
The Cayenne has a 0-60 time of 8.5 seconds at 250hp at 42k
    The Cayenne S has a 0-60 time of 6.8 seconds at 340hp at 57k
The Cayenne Turbo has a 0-60 time of 5.2 seconds at 450hp, at 90k
The Cayenne Turbo S has a 0-60 time of 4.8 seconds, at 520hp at 11k

Im sure that youre trying to make the point that it would cost a great deal to shave a second off.....but Im sure I could shave a second off of my SUV 0-60 time for under 60k. (Price difference in the actual vehicles... of course the Cayenne is superior than the TB, thats not arguable, but not sure what your trying to get at here) And I could shave a second off my passat (at stock) 0-60 time in under 5k I would imagine.

So with that said, whats your point? (Not being an ass....just wondering what your thought process is on this. Do you think it would cost a great, great deal to shave a second off 0-60 time?)

150 hp difference....60k difference in price.

My point was that you make it sound easy to reliably shave a second off of a car/truck's 0-60 when, in fact, it is not (unless you're talking about a Supra something of that sort). There's also more to the equation than simply 0-60. It would take quite a bit of effort/cash to get a TB or one it's GM clones to perform in a straight line and in the corners the same way as a Cayenne Turbo.

That being said, it comes down to personal preference. With enough money anyone can build a supercharged LS7 powered TB that runs 11s, but would that really be more satisfying than the ultimate pimp - a turbo Porsche SUV? Depends on who you are.

Second off 1/4 mile would be easier

Yeah, I get what youre saying. But I wasnt implying it was easy. But its not as hard as youre making it seem either :)
When you referred to car, you meant the Traiblazer I assume?

Sure, in older Corollas (RWD variants - 3rd gen Corollas seem to be popular, especially in the UK and Australia). Couple of people have dropped Mopar V8s in Celicas.

So I happen to not be fortunate enough to be able to own two cars. I live in CO where I need something in the winter (more than AWD car) to get me around more places than a car would. I bought a 4Runner. Relatviely cheap, reliable, and thanks to its light weight and V8 engine; fairly fast. 0-60 in 7.2 and the quarter in mid fifteens, stock. It weighs less than a BMW 750i and stops 70-0 within 5 feet (170 vs. 165). SO WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?!?!?!?!? Sure it may not handle as well as some cars, but I'm not racing through the streets of Denver going around corners at 60 mph. If you read my kill list most of my "races" were straight line drags, and when I break the speed limit I quickly brake until I'm driving a safe speed. Additionally, when I do choose to "race" I never put other drivers in danger or drive outside my or my vehicles capability.

I doubt any of you who are hating in this thread have ever even driven a late model 4Runner equipped with X-REAS handling enhancement system (a very similar system to that on a 2003 Audi RS6, I might add), AWD, and 60 series tires (relatively low for an SUV). It handles like a car. No, maybe not a corolla or a civic, but at least as good or better than any American midsize sedan -- and I don't see anyone hating on that, or creating threads called "Street racing MIDSIZE SEDANS is flat out RETARDED", In fact, if you really want to get your point across, Eric, you should've just created a thread called, "Street Racing in General is RETARDED" because it is. I know this and so does everyone else on this board, but you all know you've done it at some point or another, however minor or extreme. I mean, I don't get it. Why would you call out SUV drivers, like me, and say racing SUV's is retarded then not say anything about street racing in general. There are far more cars on the road who street race than SUV's, so what point are you really trying to make? That street racing a car is safer than an SUV? You and I both know that's not true, especially when you consider that on the whole, cars are faster than SUV's and there are more of them on the road, combine those together and you automatically have more car related injuries/fatalities than SUV's.

If the point you are trying to make is that they are heavier and are therefore kill more people in an accident consider that an SUV weighing 5000 lbs going 40 mph has about the same amount of kinetic energy as a 3000 lb car going 50 mph. This energy is what kills in an accident as it is transferred to the bodies of people involved (obviously, there is more to it than this, like the type of cars involved in the accident, etc., but generally this is the case). I bet no one here ever thought about that. It's speed that kills, not the type of vehicle.

I think I've made my point here. But the simple fact is street racing in general is stupid. Will that stop me from doing it, probably not until I grow up a little more and lose some competitiveness. For now, however, I like to drive I like to show other people that my SUV is faster than their whatever. I win some, I lose some and I haven't hurt a soul doing it. I haven't had a speeding ticket in over 5 years and just two in my whole life.

One other thing I have to address here: Eric, that info you're getting from autos.com on the TB's is wrong. They are talking about the 4.2 I6 in their 0-60, but I'd like to see you try to get your V8 2WD short wheelbase TB to 60 in 6.1. Its not going to happen. They just aren't that fast. I know because I've raced them. I eat I6 TB's alive, its not even a race. The SS only does it in 6 flat. For the money, I have one of the fastest stock SUV's on the road. I love blowing the doors off Range Rovers, Touraegs and Escalades (haven't raced a new one yet, but it would be close) and seeing the look on their face when a 4Runner costing half the price just dusted them. Or seeing the face on a guy who just dropped a 383 stroker into an early model firebird who just had a 4Runner keep up with him. That's why I do it.

And for everyone who thinks I'm the only retard who likes to streetrace his SUV:

    to name a few...

    http://www.titantalk.com/forums/war-stories/

how about street racing full size trucks...Is that dangerous too?

    http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=102
    http://dieselplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=24

    I can't wait to supercharge...

Thanks for reading I didn't want to start a flame war here, but if you feel like you need to say something, by all means...:D

You dont race around corners?? http://TRDforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=90106&postcount=17

Not say anything about street racing in general? Re-read the 1st post in this thread. :)

Like I said in my 1st post (which you mustve just skimmed over or something), street racing in general is retarded. Street racing with a SUV is "retarderererer, lol". Thats my opinion and Im sticking to it.

Not the vehicle? Just for the sake of arguing details here within the argument........a 3000 pound car going through an intersection and T-boning another car at 40mph will do less damage than a 5000 pound SUV going through an intersection at 40mph and hitting that same car.

Take it to a track. Or do ya think that would be too embarrasing?

    Yet.

Lol, that just shows that ya havent been caught. :)

No, youre wrong again.....click on the tab that allows you to change the trim level.

Im not following your logic here. I dont have the I6, I have the 5.3V8! And you have no idea what youve raced, because up until our last conversation, you thought only the EXT had the 5.3V8. How can you go from admitting that it could beat you, to no saying you could eat it up alive. Want me to remind (quote ya) you of what you wrote via PM?

BULLSHIT. You said yourself how the Jeep SRT would eat you up...and the Escalade (at over 400 hp) would tear your doors off!

    Id like to see that.

Then I guess you arent the only retard then :):D And at least you didnt bash all corolla drivers in this thread like the other thread

And I kept your name outta of it :)
