What pads to go with Brembo rotor?

    I bought my Brembo blanks from autobarn.net - they drop-ship and don't have tracking, IIRC...but I think I only paid 33-35 bucks apiece for the rotors. I don't want to wait for my dialup connection to check prices on coximport, though..how much were they? :p

    Um, i only read about 1/3 of this thread, but if you ask me, i'd go aftermarket. Isn't AXXIS pads made by stoptech? Either way, I think that's the pads stoptech uses on their big brake kits.

    One thing about pads, if your OEM pads are like mine, you can burn them enough to MASSIVE fade very easily. If that's true, go aftermarket.

    I'm personally not happy at all with my OEM brake pads, I think their crap, just like the tires that came stock on my car.

    I have OEM on x drilled/slotted Brembros. Works fine, will last a long time.

    not true. i run those brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors with EBC greenstuff pads. my specification called for lighter rotors and it is my opinion that stock sized can lose mass and still be effective as well. i daily drive my car and have no problems braking the light car. of course, your results could be different since i have lightened my car.

    i go to the canyons and drive hard every day. as for lower life, you must be prepared to sacrifice in this area if you are going to tear up your brakes.

    They don't drill and slot the rotors to lose weight, it's for cooling the rotors and pads. It makes a lot more sense to do it that way, then to just have a solid rotor. If you don't have some way to cool them down, they'll just keep building up heat, and your brake fade will keep getting worse as you drive (hard).

    To add to that you can also warp your rotors. I warped the shit out of my stock rotors then got my brembos and no warping or even fade and I am tough on my brakes, suspension and tires

    I checked with brembo. they don't make cross-drilled and slotted rotors for our cars.. only one. And I'm really paranoid about people doing their drilling in house. So I just went with the blanks and they work great with OEM pads that I got from

    like i said you have to be willing to sacrifice in some areas. they may warp quicker (my stock rotors were warped)

    i knew what i was getting into when i bought my brakes.

    by all means stick to a OE rotor from Toyota and a OE pad from Toyota to have stock braking performance.

    If you are buying in Canada check out www.kvrperformance.com They are based out of ontario I believe. I got my Brembo in house cross drilled and they were good quuality and the warping went away. Before that I would warp my rotors every ~10-15K miles.

    Your mileage may vary, but check them out, they are a good company.

    Aftermarket rotors, slotted and/or drilled won't warp as fast. Warping is from overheating the rotors. If you have a better way to cool the rotors and/or better material, it will take longer to build up the necessary heat to warp the rotors.

    Using OEM pads and rotors is one of the worst things you can do, especially if you're driving in any manner other than commuting. Stockers aren't meant to take continuously hard braking. They will overheat which leads to excessive brake fade and premature failure. With my stock brakes, if I do one emergency stop anywhere above 40mph, I will get some serious brake fade. I have had times where the brake fade was so excessive I wasn't completely sure if they would hold up long enough to come to a complete stop.

    Upgrading your brakes is one of the best mods you can do, but you have to know what you're doing, and why you're doing it. I think you upgraded your brakes for the wrong reasons.

    i kinda don't get what you mean by you get your brembo in house cross drilled?
    do you mean you brought brembo blank and ask them to cross drill for you??
    or ?? cause i don't see any brembo rotor from them, only their own brand~

    That is the cheap/fast way to get a cross drilled rotor - start with a blank rotor and drill some holes into it. Some places are a little more careful - reading in the rotor and making sure that they don't accidentally drill through a vane. Some then go ahead and sell them as is - others stree relieve them or cryotreat the rotors.

    okay, but you said it yourself. warping is from overheating the rotors. cross drilled and slotted have less material so they can handle less heat than a blank rotor.

    i upgraded my brakes for many reasons. i wanted looks as well as performance. i was also replacing stock warped and worn rotors in the front and drums that were metal to metal in the rear. my brake fluid was probably never flushed from stock so i went ahead and upgraded to high temp brake fluid.
