difference between 500/5 and 450/4 and other questions ?!!?!?!??

Well after debating on rather to get another amp, I decided I would look into it. who makes a good 450/5 or 500/5 that i could get for under 300 bucks? I dont know what the difference is between the /4 and /5 other than the extra output is for a subwoofer, right? if thats the case I just need one for /4.

I am wanting one because I am putting a ouple of small speakers in my trunk area and if I split the power going to the front speakers from the h/u,. it will sound like shit because of no power.

Also, I have a avh-7800dvd unit if that helps any. Whats the difference between the stock wires going from h/u to speaker, and rca's? Is it that big of a difference? Also my front speakers sound great, it is the 6x9's that sound like shit. How do I hook up rca's to the stocl front speaker if it only has the input for stock wires?

And the last question, are the rca cables at wal-mart just as good as the rca's from circuit city (as in the kicker of sony brand rca's)? if not whats the difference. Thanks

With the quality of audio equipment that you already purchased, don't cheap out on the wiring. You don't have to go all out and spend hundreds of dollars on Monster Cable, but make sure you get shielded audio wire with a high strand count.

As for the /4 and /5, its the amount of channels that the amp outputs, basically 4 channels or 5 channels. Some /5 have a specific channel for a sub, so you should ensure that the 5th channel really is for a sub. BUT, again, with the quality of sub that you purchased, I would definitely go with a good quality D class mono amp to power the sub alone (more power, cleaner sound) and a good 4 channel amp to power your speakers.

ok I guess I mis wrote what i meant. I wanted to know if there were any /5 amps that didnt have the 5th output as the sub. I already have a 1000/1 for my sub so thats no problem. I just wanted to know what brands you guys have tried and have found to be good. I am not going to cheap out now, would be stupid.

Most of the amps with 5 or more channels have the extra channels geared towards subwoofers, I can't think of any that aren't off the top of my head.

My personal preference (from what i've used and from what friends of mine have) are Rockford Fosgate (really good for the price) and Clarion amps...
