Buying new amp soon, got few questions

Well Ill be getting my first amp ever (yay!!!) Im a big Pioneer fan and Im getting this one here. It pumps out 60 watts rms x 4 channels. I plan on powering the door and rear speakers with this amp. Only one question. I wont have money to buy new speakers at same time so I was wondering if I ran this amp to stock speakers, will I run the risk of damaging them seeing as there is a ton of more power now?

60x4 really isn't much stronger than most decks I thought.. not sure if that would damage anything or not, most likely yes, but you'd really have to crank it up

New Headunit first. An amp wont make much difference on your stock speakers. You cant pull something outta nothing.

Not a bad deal for that amp......id suggest a sub/box and bass blockers on your other speakers. Best of both worlds.

I see that but also you'll have to get out of your car to adjust the levels on your amps and with an after market headunit you can just sit in your chair and do it.. and just get used to taking out your face plate... fords come stoock with a removeable strip to dissable your radio..

^^I havent touched the settings on my h/u since...ever. And its a good thing I dont drive a Ford

EDIT: Also I have already dropped $200 for my ipod adapter. If I buy new h/u, Ill have to get a new ipod adapter to make it work.

Believe me you have to get an aftermarket unit to get crystal clear sound. OEM headunits do not have RCA outputs, and using the hi/low inputs on the amp, or LOC converters is just not going to cut it.

Been there and done that, and you can make stock units match any color, see:

It looked good, but sounded like crap, in the end I ended up with this:

This is not to say to go all out, but at least consider some type of unit that has decent 4 channel RCA outputs. The sound was day and night between the two HU's.

you will find your self saying hummm how can we make this song sound better/".. or "thats a little rattlely, lets turn down the bass", and with subs you'll wnat an after market or you'll blow your subs out much sooner.

i have that pioneer 4 channel. Its a storng amp and most decks push 50 watts peak. 22rms is about wat after market decks push. That amp pushes 60rms and 200 peak per channel i believe.

^yup 60 rms which is alot of power. im thinking about gettin the d-series 6.5" speakers all around as long as they provide good bass response. gonna go check em out. they push out 60rms as well with 260 max.

Your setup is going to sound like crap then. Get a headunit with an aux in on the front, and take the ipod adapter back.
Does your stock headunit have subwoofer inputs? I doubt it.

With subs, you dont want ANY bass coming out of your cabin speakers......so good bass response isnt needed.

Plus youll be taking your amp to max capacity by using it to power two subs and all of your inside speakers.

Do it right. Dont half ass it.
