Want to start on a new mini project...

I want to convert that little storage area on a 8th gen rolla below the temperature/ac/fan control into half of what it is.

I read somewhere before that the storage area or at least half of it was used for a cd changer control area. Well supposedly thats an extra 2 dins that i can use....

So i want to buy a slide out dvd player/screen and pop it into there and still have a mini storage area below it

So anyone got advice on how to do this? I guess it would be like buying a dash kit like that converts 2 din into 1 type of thing

That thing is a double din. My cousin has the exact corolla as me with a factory single cd player down there. Below it is a pocket type thing. It is possible to do it and all you would need is one of those pocket things from circuit city or maybe even find a cheap one at walmart. A friend of mine got his for like $5 at walmart for his expedition.

Put a CarPC in there :) Use a EPIA M1000 Main board and build your own double din case.

ok i'll probably go for a VIA EPIA CN13000, it has everything built in, so all i need is
    ram
    hard drive
    dvd drive
    case
    foldable keyboard
    touchscreen lcd
and jsut for kicks later on a usb wireless card to leach of people's internet and my campus at college has wireless internet so i'll be good to go
    power converter

That what I have down there too. I have an EPIA M1000 with a M2-ATX power supply. All the need is the touch screen which I will be getting soon and to fit the screen down there.

Yes that is what the CD button on the player is for. You can either have a single cd player down there or a three disc changer. Ive even heard of six disc changers but Ive never seen one in person. Either way good luck with whichever way you go.

^^Hes got an 8th gen where the stock unit is just a single din. Newer cars including the 9th gen have the stock units built into the dash so it makes aftermarket stuff alot harder to install.
