    Power handling stock unit?

Anyone know how many watts the stock h/u on an 01 can handle? Im assuming little because stock speakers are 20W nominal and quality sucks a** after half way up on h/u. Reason asking is that I may change all the speakers with pioneer d series that have 60w nominal and use two GM-3200T amps hidden in the doors or somewhere else somehow. I want crystal clear audio. I might throw in a sub first or do the speakers first, unsure which one will come but we have to wait and see :)

well if your doing all that whynot change out your HU... it would sound 10 times better, you more that likely won't have to use amps (unless your crazy like that :)) I tried to upgrade my speakers and almost blew them because my stock deck wouldn't handle them, so I upgraded, and fell in love... :)

Bah I have issues with stock headunits. Dont get me wrong, they are great and have alot of features, but that is not the problem. The buttons are usually small and the functions are really complicated or hard to get to (meaning i got to hit this button then that button then this one and with stock, I just hit cd and track up/down and my ipod is ready to go or just switch back to fm). The colors wont match up as if it were stock nor would it fit in the same. Also my car would be more vunerable to thieves, and oh, I got tints too and it wont make a difference. I dont live in a bad area but kids in my school will do anything to make a quick buck. I know that most faceplates detach, but then thats a hassle taking off the faceplate everytime in addition of me taking down my radar detector everytime.

if you want crystal clear sound you'll be replacing the speaker wiring too. should sound pretty good by the time you're done. pioneer is pretty good.

When I mean its not too hard, I mean cost wise. Seeing that Im already dropping in 4 new speakers and an amp, a few feet of wires isnt going to make a difference seeing as I already spent that much cash.
