    3S-GTE swap

hi guys the other day i came across a 3S-GTE for my corolla.. problem was. it apparently didnt have a AFM with it. is it worth it? cuz i think without it the motor will stutter and stall.. is it easy to get a new AFm for the 3S-GTE? interchangeable with the 3s-GE or 3S-FE by any chance?

secondly, how can you physically tell if the 3S-GTE is 1st, 2nd or 3rd GEN? i specifically want the 3rd Gen.

the one i saw had "ceramic dual entry turbo" written on it, with an intercooler, but i'm not sure if it was air-air or air-water one..

Please a quick response would be MUCH appreciated. :)

The 3rd gen only came in JDM cars, so if it's out of a US MR2 then it's a 1st or 2nd. You could probably get a new air flow meter from most auto parts stores.

Is an AFM the same as a MAF? if so you could probably find generic ones that could be adapted.

thanks guys.. the engine is from japan actually..the guys said ithad everything except the "air flow sensor".. i presumed he meant it was the AFM. if it had a MAP probably the guy didnt know about it cuz its INSIDE the manifold and its a 3rd GEN?? (please let it be a 3rd gen!!)

swap is for my '06 1ZZ-FE Corolla Altis.

    No emission laws here ;)

Isn't it going to be super hard to get a 3S-GTE in to an 06 Rolla?

Yeah I've seen vids and pics of the fensport one. VERY nice indeed.

I almost went with a 3S-GTE swap. Kinda sad I went with the S/C instead.
