    Argh, accident!

    got into an accident today.

some guy was trying to make a right turn on the intersection from the MIDDLE LANE and i was on the right lane. i was diagonally half way behind on his right side (half front of car was next to him and half back was behind him). we were about 30 feet away from the intersection going at around 40MPH and then he tried to make that turn.

    anyway... here's the aftermath.

left front side fender bent and left wheel rubs when i hit a bump.
left corner light shattered/popped out. left headlight is kinda protruding. front bumper middle bottom cracked.

Your lucky. Looks like a $30 ebay fender will fix that right up. Minus paint anyways.

Hopefully the fender is the problem to the rubbing and you didnt fuck up your axle. Have that a-holes insurance pay for it at the dealer lol.

yeah it was his fault... he just pulled out his information as soon as he got out the car.

anyway, we didnt let the insurance know about it...

just a random question, what do you guys think the repair costs are for that?

something you cant see is that the bottom middle of the front bumper is cracked...and wheel well for left front side kinda collapsed down which is what rubs against the wheel over bumps.

I think you could fix it for like $100 or $200 if you get a pre-painted fender off ebay and then just leave the little crack in the bumper.

Couldn't you report it to the insurance company but not make a claim out of it? That way it covers you just in case that guy doesn't pay for it.

You just don't know what damage there really is unless you peel away the sheet metal. Who knows what's broken or bent behind the fender and bumper. This might cost you $500+.

Remember the reason you have insurance for yourself is to return your car to the condition it was in before the accident. Just because you buy a new fender and paint it doesn't mean it will blend w/ the rest of the car.

As long as you have his insurance information though, just in case he backs out and doesn't pay for the damages... and hopefully it didn't bend anything serious on the car.

On the bright side, better to have a small accident like that vs. something alot more serious.

I hit the left rear end of a ford bronco, just barely clipped him. so since it sits higher it just got my fender and all else you see damaged.

Seriously bro take it to insurance. My neighbors hit my car and they wouldnt pay the full amount of the lowest estimate we gave them. We gave them three estimates and the lowest was $450, they offered $200 but my dad got really angry and they gave us $300 but my dad was still pissed. So yea even if he says he'll pay, take it to insurance.

well actually i called my step dad to the scene along with my grandpa and they did the negotiating for me (wasnt too far from my house).

anyway, he got $350 from the guy.. plus our next door neighbor is a mechanic.. so we'll see how it plays out..

So you got the money before even knowing how much damage was *really* done? Not a good idea :S

Ya that damage is alot more than $350. Mine was only a little dent and paint scuffs and it cost me $450.

yeah well, what can i do :( they pretty much handled the situation for me. (called them to let them know i got into an accident and they wanted to come)

they were afraid the insurance would have skyrocketed since im a driver under 25 yrs of age. its already 3000/6months as it is.

Never take money on the scene. I had a guy try to offer me $200 - $300 because he didn't have insurance and it ended up costing $800 for the repairs but luckly I reported it to the insurance against his wishes.

If you are not at fault - your insurance will not go up.

i got rear ended and my insurance went up alittle, wasnt my fault but whatever.

WTF, how many accidents or speeding tickets have you been involved in. i got reckless driving (my only ticket) and i got it down to $150 dollar fine and my record only says i got a ticket it doesnt say reckless. and i pay 4000 a year.

its actually my mom's insurance which is geico but im under her name (im 22 years old). i live in new york city and that is why it's really expensive. a lot of people are getting plates from other states so they do not have to pay such high insurance rates.

from what i have seen from friends/family, their insurance rate increases fault or not.

No fault insurance isnt available in NY. I have no-fault insurance......the woman that hit my wife in the new trailblazer was deemed at fault anyways, and my rates will not be increasing.
