anyone still watch this? it's silly, they put way too much money into pieces of crap, but this week just amazed me. they took a 1973 VW thing

they did make it look good, stuck a playstation in the hood storage, dropped a nice 200hp turbo engine in it... then they stuck a tablet PC in all 4 doors.. in a convertible? Umm hi, I hope that girl has the brains to never leave that car unattended, or plans on selling them because if that thing is left parked anywhere, those things are gone.


Also, they've changed shops (no longer west coast customs, now G.A.S. galpin auto sports), so now the boss of the shop is some pompus looking rich guy that looks like every guy you see driving a ferrari in a movie.

Pimp my ride sucks. They never do any engine work. I saw this one with a CRX. Well yea, they made it a ricer. Had no engine work.

all they do is take a rusted peice and paint it. in the end of it all under all that paint its still a rusted peice, they dont do any frame work. its all show and mostly no go. the crx i also saw and i think they put a new motor in it but it was another stock one.

Is Xibit still hosting it?

ya i think they did but that was only because the car broke down on xzibit or something. and ya, all they do is paint over the original paint. overhaulin is a much better show. same with wrecks to riches. they actually make it like brand new again. if they made a show like that where they didnt make the cars ricey but had some modifications to make it nicer (navi, sound system, some exterior mods) then it would be a kick ass show. only people that watch pimp my ride are retards who wish there POS was like that, or people like me who just like cars and watching people working on cars. but i cringe everytime i watch pimp my ride.

I watch it just cause it's car related but about it, most of the upgrades suck and have no point in matter but hey if I got any of them for free I wouldn't mind them either lol

you still have to pay the taxes on everything that they give you... but any who... hate that show always have.. I used to watch it just to see what recokulas thing they would do to the car this week... but lets see.. if I were on pimp my ride right now... they would put a fridge in my car (have a cooler in teh trunk) ummm a computer (have my A+ book in the back seat(wouldn't mind that one too much... )) well at least that how WCC used to work.

Are you sure they have to pay the tax? Because I watched episodes where they put over 50k in to a car. The tax on that would be like 4-5g's. The cars they are pimping are not even worth 1/10th the taxes I mean I would be all for it if I had to pay the tax just because of the amount of money they sink in but you have to ask yourself. Would they be driving these garbage buckets if they could afford the tax on 50g's?

if you win something you have to pay taxes on it... like for instance those G6's that oprah gave away on her show that one time... the reason everybody got all up in arms about it was because all the people had to pay the taxes on them

Same w/ Overhaulin'. In fact on the submission form it says, "Winners must pay all applicable taxes." Imagine getting the tax bill on an overhauled 56 Bel Air. ...

So do the people find out before or after they see the car that they gota pay the taxes on it? Im pretty sure they wouldnt be going nuts if they found out they gotta pay up. On overhaulin I can see it because most of those people had plans on restoring the car anyways so they got a big ass break. On pimp my ride, its just useless stuff that you would probably never use. Plus the people that drive those kind of cars can barely afford to gas it, Im pretty sure they cant afford the taxes on it because its still a POS.

Im not saying they're unskilled. They are extremely skilled to get all that garbage into the beaters. Im just saying that the stuff they throw into the car just makes it look like shit. I saw this one mustang where they made the convertible top like metallic gold, I felt like throwing up. Also they do paint over the old paint. Sure they fix the rust but how do they know they tackled it all? There is no way to find out unless you sand blast it and I know for a fact that they dont sand blast the cars. Ive seen them paint right over the factory paint.

Although I don't doubt the fabrication skill on Pimp My Ride, IMO the stuff they make is repetative and unnecessarily showy.

Anyone remember Tuner Transformation? I don't know if it's still on SPEED but they at least did performance mods, mostly bolt-ons. They did have a show where they took a Tercel and converted it to RWD drifting machine, which took some fabrication. The last episode I saw was with some NFS:Underground replica BMW M3, kinda boring.

every car is different bro, but the one mustang they did with the red and gold scheme was deff painted over original paint im pretty sure there were a bunch of other cars that were the same. and im not saying their work is bad bro. im saying the show pimp my ride is bad. west coast customz is the shit because they can do anything you want. im pretty sure that mtv tells WCC what to do on most of the car (how they want it) and not how WCC would have done it.

apparently WCC had the most input on the Chevelle (green one) and that one girls old Bel Aire that was pink and white and the VW Bug. Other than that MTV tells them to put 300lbs subwoofers in a buick or four tvs on the outside of a corolla.

exactly, one car had like 5 cameras all around so they could take pics of the road. WTF???

ya tuner transformation rocks plus they have that hot blonde chick on that show now too. and she is not just there for looks she actually knows her way around a car. I tell ya there is noting sexier than a woman who knows cars.
