oh wow, missed this flame war...

    ellada....wow

i've drifted in my corolla also. i think the true definition of drift is the loss of traction in the oversteer direction (angular direction if you're not used to thinking radially) such that your position exiting the corner becomes more optimal. this means that the car is already pointed in the right direction when you are starting to accelerate out of it. this means you don't have the waste the drive tires' (either front or back, this doesn't matter) grip TURNING when you're trying to accelerate as much as possible.

what makes it possible? swaybars for me and i start the slide by feinting. when done properly this induces oversteer (maybe just a tiny bit) but it is CONTROLLABLE with proper throttle while i'm correcting.

also i've been in toyrolla's car (his old zze110) while he induced oversteer with LFB, and it was well controlled.

you don't see front wheel drive cars in drift competitions because drift competitions are about throwing insane oversteer angles -- not necessarily going through a corner as fast as possible.

and houston imports as a reputable source, LOL get that shit outta here

FWD drift is more practical in my opinion, its much easier to control then power over rear drive drift and can be exploited much more easily on super tight back roads where going off means you are in serious trouble.

As for the movie:I look at it this way: The movies are and always have been rubbish. Period. However, they brought a lot of light to the tuning culture when the first one came out, and definately drew in a lot of the younger generations that had only really seen muscle cars and dragsters. The biggest problem I see with this new F&F is that the style of driving is far more dangerous then anything in the previous two (( with the exception of Mr. Walkers bridge jump in the Skyline in #2 )) so it will definately have more of a negative affect on the racing culture for a while. On the other hand, when you look at who actually drove the cars in the movie, it definately makes it sound like something worth seeing. Personally I'm a big fan of Rhys Millen and he drove and tuned a lot of the cars in the movie. The upshot is that I'm going ot see it this weekend, but anytime I see neon I'm just gonna cover my eyes and ears and go "la la la" until its over.

i want to thank you about your theory about a FWD drifting, because it brought some extensive laughing, criticism as well as mocking between me and my buddies as well as some respected members of the racing community in my local drag strip meet last night at my hometown.

Nice to see that you have SHIT to say about it to back up your opinion...which is all it is....your OPINION. As usual. You havent shown a single ounce of technical info to back up your claims.

no kidding... we show information to back up what we have to say and he shows whining and pathetic jabs to try to make himself feel better. *shrug* some people's kids man...

however, with that said and since there has been no actual informational response and its obvious there won't be, I believe its time to close this thread due to the fact that from here out it will just be more bitching and whining about how right someone is or isn't without any decent response from one certain side to back up claims.

so.. yeah.. nice try, thanks for playing, maybe next time.
