i'm not digging the rear of the new sienna. i hope it doesn't fall prey to the nissan quest problem. avant garde style = no sales

haven't seen the crosstour yet but the reviews have been positive. it's too bad honda made it look so ugly. if they made it more conventional like the venza they would sell bucketloads

I wish Toyota would released the Wish here. I'm not interested in driving any boat on wheels, though I really dig the new features on the XLE. I think the 4 cyl option is great if they manage to get great fuel economy out of it. Currently the Mazda 5 is the one to beat with 9.6/7.1 L/100km city/hwy.

Speaking of Mazda 5s, still love mine. :) So does my son Leylund. :D

the 1st gen siennas are kinda like boat on wheels.
after driving my crv for 2 yrs and now i'm back to the sienna, it does feel kinda like a boat. :D.
very soft and kinda wobbly when compared to the stiff crv.

but... the 2nd gen sienna is a big improvement, especially after toyota changed the engine to 270+ horses towards the end. handles so much better.
with the 3rd gen coming out early next year and having a sport model, it would be more like a speed boat instead of a plain ol' boat. :D

i find the mazda 5 a bit too small for my use. i've tried it and it's actually very nice, but too small for me - unfortunately.

    ******************

i have a question for you guys, maybe one of you would know.
my sienna's exhaust have the cat, then it goes out to one muffler and then pipe, then straight out to the back to another muffler! :(

so my question is: if i remove the muffler in the middle, would i fail aircare??
i have some plans for the sienna.:D:D

Does your Sienna need to be aircared??

    :D

mine was just aircared this past summer and it's good for 2yrs.
i wish aircare would just die completely. total damn waste of money!
they used to hook up my sienna and then they would run it for a few minutes.
for the last 2x (i think), all they do is hook it up on some OBD reader for less than 3 minutes. remove it and ding me for $45.
it used to show the carbon readings and stuff, now it dont show squat.
i think they just check for any codes and that's it. they dont even look under the car if i have a cat or not, dont even open the hood or check the gas cap... which they all used to do. total waste of money!

i think their contract will be up in 2011 or 2012 and it will be reviewed at that time or something like that.

In 2009, 14% of the vehicles that went through AirCare failed. They aren't nearly close to getting all the vehicles they want off the road, off the road.

so i rode in a little toyota echo RS this morning and i have to say that i'm quite impressed with the little car! :D

5 speed and 4 doors, handles nicely and power is not bad for the size of the car. makes me wanna get an echo or yaris. :D:D

i'm pretty sure the echo wont be spinning/burning tires, but it's fun to drive and great on gas. same with the yaris.
i've also seen quite a few echo/yaris hb nicely dressed up. :D

saw a ford transit van today. didn't realize they were so small. i always thought they were the size of the short wheel base dodge sprinters.

i've seen a few driving around. they're very popular in europe.
if ford would make them as passenger vans as well - i'm sure they will sell like hot cakes! i believe they're only being sold as delivery vans over here.

i think they're bringing the next generation cmax here. it's going to have sliding doors like the mazda 5 but not the 3rd row of rear seats.

A late Merry Christmas to everyone. :)

Actually Ford is bringing the 7-seater Grand C-Max (not the 5 seater C-Max) to North America although oddly they're just going to call it the C-Max. It'll hopefully be powered by a 1.6L EcoBoost engine producing 180HP mated to a standard 6 speed manual transmission and optional 5 speed automatic. The middle seat of the Ford Grand C-Max I believe can be folded in, although hopefully they get the approvals that Mazda didn't get with the 5. The Mazda 5 is a 7 seater in Europe and Asia but because the 7th fold-in seat did not get safety approval, the Mazda 5 is a 6 seater in North America. It may be possible they've solved it because the 8th seat in the new Sienna is removable and can be stored in the back when not in use.

i'll see how it goes today.
i would loose too much $$ if i trade it now.
if i win the lotto - i will just give the car away.

Huh, I've had three Civics, one I sold at 364,000km that was starting to stall when cold at idle, one that had its clutch burn out at 352,000km and I didn't have money to fix it since I was in college, and one at 270,000km that was killed by a red light runner just 12 days after I got it (it was the best one too, RT4WD (predecessor to the CRV's RT4WD system) wagon with the SI engine, D16A6, non VTEC but produced 108hp and required premium gas.) They were all great except that they all had some form of rust around the wheel wells and miscellaneous other places.

But of course none of those three beats my 91 Corolla which I sold at 365,000km (estimated, odometer and speedometer stopped working at 340), perfect mechanical condition that only needed a new alternator, water pump, and timing belt in the years I owned it. Engine had only started to leak a little bit of oil but not burn, transmission was perfect, and most importantly no rust whatsoever.

late 80's and early 90's honda's and toyota's were over engineered and much better given the technology they were working with. by the mid 90's they started cost cutting and although still every reliable, aren't engineered and built to the same standards.

my 04 rolla has been mechanically flawless but the trim is poorly put together and starting to come loose.

same with my 03. engine's excellent no matter how hard i drive it.
the interior is not that great. had some little plastic pieces on the dash that broke.

my 10yr old sienna is the best car i've owned. it's turning 11 yrs old in april this year. :D still runs like a champ.
each time i drive it, i'm amazed at how smooth it is. power aint that great, nothing to brag about. reliability is just amazing.

well, it is pretty funny. :D

but... what's wrong with it is that the kid most likely did not declare his hood when he drove back into canada. number 2, he shouldn't have left his garbage in the lot like that... especially for such a big item.
just not my style of doing things. in my book, if you go out of the country and you buy something - then declare it. if you're not going to declare, then dont buy! simple as that. karma can be a bitch when it bites back.
in this case, karma bit him in the ass even before he got down to the parking lot to buy/install his hood. he got a double whammy as they say, the speeding ticket and the hood somehow didn't want to close properly. :D:D
i'm sure the speeding ticket he got was over us$100. :D:D

i just hate people cheating. we've all done stupid things in our lives.
if you're gonna cheat, at least be discreet about it and clean up after yourself. :D

    whats new with u bro.
havent seen u around here for so long. :)
so how did the pictures go man? u have any samples for me? :D

i was feeling really crappy on thurs. came home early from work.
stayed home on friday to rest. saturday was getting better for me and i just kept popping those cold pills. thankfully, by sunday morning - i feel pretty good.
i heard those flu shots will not prevent u from getting a flu but it helps shorten the flu period. in this case, it only lasted me around 3-4 days which is amazing. usually last me at least 2 weeks or so.

Oh, I didn't catch the part about him crossing the border to get the hood and sneak it in like that lol. And of course littering and all the other stuff was bad lol.

LOL.... well they cleaned up the thread on TN.... yeah I have patience for that guy, because he 1) came out of nowhere and 2) doesn't have a 7th gen....but if you saw, his one nasty comment extracted 9 nice comments out of people I never got a comment from....
