    MP3 Players

    If anyone is in the market for a cheap MP3 Player, all of the Creative Labs players have HUGE price drops on them. (I picked up a 512MB player for 48 shipped from Circuit City).
    This is my first MP3 player, and I just wanted something for when Im working out and mowing the grass.

    I may end up picking up a portable XM receiver in the near future as well, so I can listen to O+A and stuff.

    if you get xm try to get one of those song recorder things that they just got sued over by the RIAA. they can record songs off xm in mp3.

    I've never had an mp3 player, I don't even have more than 5 CD's

    Yeah. I think that lawsuit is fucking stupid. We PAY for that service....so you should be able to record the songs. Its no different than recording songs off the radio onto a cassette tape.

    The RIAA is sue happy, and is more hindering than anything. The RIAA is more or less against any technology that gives control to the consumer

    basically. I read another article a while back saying their sister group (MPAA) is training DVD sniffing dogs for mail stations. so, if they smell a dvd+-/r/rw they'll rip open the box to see what's there. How the hell can that be legal?:rolleyes:

    If you have an ipod, you can get a ipod adapter that hooks up to the stock deck in the cd player port and hooks up to the ipod dock connector. It even charges the ipod and puts out high quality music. I'll get pics on my installation a bit later to show everyone.

    Thats crazy. I thought it was fake, but its real.

    DVD Piracy is a different evil though....people are copying them and reselling them. That isnt the case with the MP3s, XM stuff

    mp3 players are just seeming more pointless than ever. music isn't free in mp3 ever, RIAA insists ripping from CD's for personal use is illegal, and every music store uses DRM in their files (which are no longer mp3 ofcourse), AAC, MP4, WMA, etc. to the point you have to buy a player that supports what store you feel like buying encrypted music from

    iTunes = iPod
    napster = ?? creative ones, a few others
    rhasphody = no clue

    RIAA can insist ripping from CDs for personal use is illegal, but there is absolutely NOTHING they can do to enforce it. Its ridiculous that they are taking it to the steps they are taking it. I have over 3000 songs on my computer from when I was in college...so fuck the RIAA.

    If I buy a CD, I should be able to move it to an MP3 player and listen to it on my front porch.

    Well said Eric. They're afraid of change, and afraid they can no longer overcharge for crappy music and line their pockets.
