good place to buy a car chassis

any1 know a good place to buy chasses for cheap? i'm thinking about starting a long-term mr2 spyder project and i'm looking for a place to buy just the chassis - no drivetrain or even most body panels needed.

that would be a wrecked mr2. i need one thats been untouched because i'm going to do body work and installations myself. if i'm going to put 10k into a car it at least has to be without accidents. i'm planning on installing a MWR-built 1zz w/turbo and doing a widebody conversion with all-custom work. this would be a very long-term project. probably 5 years starting when i graduate college next year. the corolla platform is so limited in terms of drivetrain layout i just dont see it being competitive with faster cars even if i put a lot of $$ into it. so now i guess i'm saving up. i'd like to spend under 15k for this thing total. that would be absolutely awesome. plus working on cars is my hobby so i dont care if i have to work on it for a few years b4 i get it to run. my corolla will last me 4-eva

Good luck finding one that is not crashed and is only the chassis. Why not buy a used one maybe with high mileage, pimp it for a little bit,and then get to work on it.

the junkyard I goto here has lots of 1st gen MR2s, most of them are pretty clean, lots have blown engines though. Second and third gens are a pretty rare find and are usually gone within a week

I'd jsut buy a used one then and strip it down for parts, its way cheaper to fix cars these days then it is to junk them and buy new ones.

yea it seems like the number of 1st gens and the availability of parts is better. i might do that as I can probably pick up a relatively rust-free non-running 1st gen for a couple hundred bucks and then swap in a gze motor and turbo. all for under 10k total. apparently the gze can take 25+ lbs of boost on stock internals. that would be quite a monster.

thats why I decided to go with an MKI buildup - cheaper parts and a cheap way to get a chassis. It will be hard to find a rust-free one though. I dont want to be breaking too many bolts. if I buy a 4agze clip that motor is already built for boost which will make it much easier to modify with say a turbo conversion. A project like that will certainly cost me less than 15k.
