    Possible new motorcycle (used bike)

I have been looking over the used motorcycle classifieds here in Denver, and I came across a old 1985 Honda VF700F INTERCEPTOR with 12,000 miles for about $2000. I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a good bike. It had the carbs cleaned, newer tires and battery, chain and spokes are good, and the paint is in good condition.

Interceptor is a great bike, do you know off-hand if it's a V-twin?

If it's the V-Twin, those are torquey as hell, so just show a little extra care when romping on the throttle or coming off a light.

    Lol...my '04 has almost 12,000 miles on it. :D

    Ooo, the V-4.

I've heard some rumors that there was oil problems with the cam shaft on that bike. Check the cams before you buy.

What exactly should I look for when I am checking out the cam?

So, other than the cam oil problem is that a good motor?

Oh yeah, great motor. Check the rear two cams for unusual wear on the top of the lobe.

It's rated at 72 horsepower with a dry weight of 580 lbs give or take.

In comparison, my 600R is 92 horsepower with D.W. of 383 lbs.

Edit: In further comparison the 2006 Yamaha R1 is rated at 183 horsepower with a D.W. of 340ish lbs.
    Now THAT'S fast as hell.

I have also been looking into getting a new bike as well, I am now deciding between a cruiser or a sport bike.
The first one is a Yamaha V star 650cc V twin

The Second one is the Yamaha 600r

The reason I am looking into a cruiser is the insurance rate and the more comfortable ride

I agree with the insurance rates on cruisers...but don't knock the 600R unless you've riden it. It's pretty comfy. It's like a mix between a BMW and a R6.

ROFL. I don't know I've never ridden bitch on my own bike. :p

Because of how the single seat sits on the 600R, it's at a little bit of an angle. So when riding with a passenger, when you go to brake, they'll need to squeeze your hips with their legs a little bit to keep from sliding forward.
The R6 and the R1 have a dual seat set-up...and it's completely flat, as opposed to a slight angle like the 600R.

If you need any hints about the power the 600R has, the closest race I ever won was with an early 90's supercharged Vette. It's got plenty of power, while maintaining a very comfortable ride on a super-sport bike.
