    Something I've been wondering about...

Does nothing say "STEAL ME" more than a carbon fiber hood?

I'm thinking of slapping a ViS hood on mine, but I park in a public garage, and I had my other car stripped down to the bone before, so uh...anyone?

If you have to use hood pins yeah its not a good idea. The vis ones seem to fit a lot better though and you can probably use the stock latch so you would at least have to get into the car to pop it open.

    Streets of L.A. Go figure.

What's sad is that it's in the UCLA parking lot...

What the $#@! were the security/police there for? Show? I swear all they do is give out tickets. Bet you they saw the guys stripping my car, but figured "...forget it" since it's probably not a car a hot chick drives...ugh.

Then again...the car that was stripped...was an integra type-r...even without a carbon fiber hood, anyone'd be tempted, right... :( and it was my first car too dammit!!!

I plan on getting a CF hood again in the future and painting 95% of it to match. I have a little area that will remain unpainted. I know it sounds wasteful, but its not like theres a fiberglass one available.

Mind if I ask what you mean by that? Aren't all CF hoods fiberglass?

no...not all. mine - which is Toyrolla's old hood - has a fiberglass crossmember, but the rest is simply carbonfiber.

Thats a good idea, I wish I knew they existed when I bought mine.

My hood is pretty much all fiberglass but then again mine barely even fits.

You can get hood locks. However, I have never heard of anyone getting a hood stolen.

It's not as much as getting a hood stolen, but the fact that a car with a carbon fiber hood is just screaming "STEAL ME" whenever someone looks at it.

get the craziest alarm u cud find with the most flashing lights sirens and what not out there, put one of those 3 dollar alarm light simulating flashers they sell at kiosks at the mall, u'd be surprised how much those little things deter theft

locking hood pins can't be used in a situation where they're under load like a normal hood pin... you still have to retain the stock latch

Well, as far as protection go, I've got these:

    -KARR alarm
    -Lowjack
    -AutoLock Pro

Maybe I should also get that 300,000 volt steering wheel lock too...but maybe that's overdoing it.

i'd say a steering wheel quick release hub, but that wont do you anygood if its theyre actually stripping the car down in the garage, and how the hell did they do that, did they have tools and hours of time 2 be illegally taking shit form ur car, i think the guards were in on it....
