Well to cut to the chase the new motor is pretty much blown. I spun a bearing after having the car get stuck in first gear and hit the rev limiter for a good period cause the clutch lost pressure. Well right now its running, but no power and I think its time to get a new car or 4age black top swap. Sad thing was it was running very good beating this tiburon on the highway with other cars.

ya I'm pretty sure if I sell the car the manual swap would sell pretty fast. I looked up into it more this morning and it seems like I spun a rod bearing and possibly burnt a piston ring here or there. This pisses me off badly cause the new motor only lasted less then 6 months.

certain motors dont like to be driven hard. I knew a guy who had a malibu 4cyl and every single year for 3 years running he blew the motor. It was funny because it would happen right at tax time. So every single year his tax money went into buying a new motor. He killed the stock and then 2 replacements and when it was time to change a 3rd he sold the car for 500 bucks to some kid who is dumb. He explained the problem of the rod knocking but the kid doesnt seem to understand and when out and put a crap load of money into the sound system and didnt fix the motor. Its basically a ticking timebomb as far as motors are concerned. anyway whatever you decide we're all behind you. Part of why im looking for a new car is because its just become a pain in the ass to work on mine. Rolla's just never got popular enough in the scene, that and its really nice to have the idea of a car that i dont have to work (non tuning, like changing water pump, starter, radiator, ect.) 5 year warranty means no work till its paid off. but it means a huge car payment each month and higher insurance, you kinda have to pick and choose. We were considering getting a used car is our loan doesnt go through like we want it to and we looked at mr2-s and they are really pricey. Anywhere from 13000 to 19000, i didnt realize they held their value like that.

just keep us informed and dont let the vultures tear your car apart before its even dead!

i agree with ninety... cmon man, we got too much people leaving the community... or are still here but not drive a corolla... do a blacktop swap man... its gonna make ur car unique...

get out of the car modding scene, buy a car and leave it stock; proceed to enjoy extra spending money.

I don't know guys, this really screws up my plans for turbo this summer. The motor is now currently locked up and won't start, but the block itself is still whole and not blown. I figure it needs rebuilding and would be the cheapest way to go at it. As for the modding scene, hell no I'm not quiting. I don't know about the corolla anymore. Its given me so much problems, I'm thinking a new car after fixing the motor is the best choice for me. It's pointless to sell a non running car, so I'm gonna fix it and sell it.

why nto goto the junkyard and get a stock working motor, then its only liek $200 to get it fixed and saves you a lot of time. and then if you want to make soem extra money, rebuild the block with nicer internals, and sell it

just grab another 7A and drop it in. Re-build your current engine for boost while its out. Then snap on the turbo and enjoy double digit PSI's

2nd time, but all we did to this motor was rebuild the head and left the bottom end alone. That was a mistake cause now we are rebuilding it at the moment. Should be up and running again by next week. Great thing is that its only gonna cost a few hundred to fix.

well it took a while to really tear the motor apart and see whats up cause work has been busy lately, well I found out the problem was that almost all the rod and main bearing were pretty much dead. I almost bought a new car also last week cause I got tired of the corolla constantly going down. Well its a cheap fix kinda so it will run again.

That's good, what other problems have you had with it?

um lets see, hit n run, blown a motor and tranny, rear wheel and hub ripped off, and clutch master cylinder go out after 3 months of manual swap. Well I found something really bad today about the car. I found a hair line crack near the oil pan and this is not gonna be good for my turbo plan or anything at all. I'm just gonna make the car run and back to its good condition, but I'm gonna leave the corolla community also and sell it this summer.

ya I got my eye set on an integra an a 240sx already. I'm wanting something alot easier to work with compared to a corolla and those two have a pretty good platform to start off with already.

ehhh, i hate working on 240's.. integras are ok. So have you officially gave up on teh rolla?

ya sadly I've given up on it. The bottom end is not gonna handle a turbo I was planning on putting cause of that tiny crack and the crankshaft has a little wear on the number 2 piston because of the messed up bearing, so instead of spending alot of money and redoing the entire motor again I'm just gonna get another car.

G's back. My Corolla still lives. I beaten the living hell on my AE101 and luckily nothing blew up om my car. The only thing I did to my 4A-FE that was major is rebuilding my cylinder head due to valve seals leaking and runs nice quiet and fast with 182,700 miles on the clock.

Nothing else is done to my car but getting repainted and swap sometime this summer.
Don't just give up yet, part out some things on your car in order to get your car running like the body kit, or what ever you have that you'll change in favor of something else. Just giving you suggestions cause' I've been a Corolla owner for almost 4 years now and still my first car. I'm crazy so I can't let go of it.
