    Toyota gaining sales in US

I just saw on the news today that Toyota is now the 3rd leading sales company in the US.

Toyota jumped to the 3rd spot By having a 8.8% increase in sales passing up the falling Crysler company.

    The top 4 are:
    1) GM
    2) Ford
    3) Toyota
    4) Crysler

yeah it's not hard to see why. toyota makes reliable cars the majority of the us populations likes and wants.. I just happen to not be in that crowd. with the passing of the celica I most likely will not buy a toyota again unless they come out with something worthwhile

Don't think they are the number one selling car in the US - but they are still the most sold nameplate in the world ~30 million sold to date.

I think this means that unless the new Si is a really good seller, Toyota will stay on their current path of making boring cars targeted towards retirees.

I'd say that toyota still makes relatively exciting cars, the scions for example, as well as the lexus', only problem with that is the cost that comes associated with that. on the other hand, the yaris could be pretty fun with a sporty motor.

true the yaris dose have potential but prob. will never get respected (a lot like the corolla). I just go to bed every night praying to god that Toyota follows through with their Supra plans.

"Relatively exciting" but not exciting when compared to other cars in their respective categories. same goes for Lexus. Even the IS350, sure its fast, but they toned down one of their more sporty cars compared to the IS300. That and all the goddamn electronic car control gizmos.

Yeah car magazines have said the IS performs well on paper and in the numbers it posts, but it doesn't have the feeling of being connected to the car like the 3 series or the G35.

I agree that the electronics spoil a lot of the fun. Even BMW has gone a little too far IMO by introducing their active steering system. I like my Corolla because it's simple, lightweight and responsive. It's how a driver's car is truly supposed to be.

Yea, cars are moving away from beign drivers cars very quickly. The electronic stuff makes it safer for people who dont know what they're doing / not paying attention, but stuff liek ABS and Traction control are things that good drivers have bene doing for years without the computers
