anyone dropped on stock shocks?

anyone dropped on stock shocks?

anyone? i wanna knw how long my shocks can last if i drop s-techs in my car...

ive been dropped for almost a year on stock struts with tenzo gf2 springs and im fine

Im dropped on neuspeed race springs and stock struts on my 02 civic...the ride is pretty good, ill say that much....but that probably doesnt help since its not a civic...i kno when fastrolla96 slammed his rolla on coilovers, his struts went out shortly thereafter (about a year i think)....but then again, he was slammed on those....

i am planning on changing my shocks as well when i get the springs... its just that i want to know if i have to get the shocks right away when i drop it... i can wait a year or so if it can last that long... so should i go for s-techs with stock shocks or wait later and get both shocks and springs...

btw, for the shocks, im planning on getting kyb gr-2(?) not sure what it is...

KYB GR-2 are a nice strut (Corolla's have struts, not shocks) if you still want a compliant ride with a moderate lowering...

I have been dropped on stock struts for about 2 years roughly and they lasted about 9 months before they blew. I need to get new ones, but I have had a bad job and no money to change them, but now that I have a good job they are going to get some performance struts

it depends on your spring rates.

If I remember correctly S-techs are supposedly meant to work better with stock shocks than other brands. A lot of people have been on them for over a year with no problems, but then again some people can blow their shocks 2 weeks in depending on road conditions and such.

ive got 180,000 miles on my stock struts, dropped on intrax, and still rides great

tein springs are designed to be on stock struts, least thats what it says on thier website

i emailed them asking if they ARE designed for stock struts... so ima wait for a reply...

so yea just to say sumthin by shocks dont u mean dampers cause thats what they really are arent' they.

i dont think so... all i know is the strut is what keeps the car bouncing up and down all crazy...

it "dampens" bound and rebound of a shock...in a nutshell...

ok enrico a damper is a shock but its just a better term for it the way it absorbs the shock as it dampens it to make the bumps feel like there not even there.

dont do it. (thats your last and final warning) i did it, and it was a fucking moonbounce all because i felt like saving a few hundred bucks which ended up costing me more in the long run. i think with intrax its different since their springs are progressive(?) and theres less stress on the remaining life of the stock struts. with the teins, my stock struts blew out in less than a month (im assuming yours will too snce you have the same gen with a decent amount of mileage on the struts). however, if you can get the new struts installed later at no additional labor then i guess go for it. just dont fully expect to last as long as the lucky member who have gone a year (their struts are newer). and once they blow, you better be careful; when mine did and every time there was a dip in the highway my car would almost lift off the ground when youre going 60; its scary shit and i had to pray for my life and got em changed out immediately.

just take it from someone who has made this mistake with the same gen, and same setup. once i got some new tokico's in it made a huge difference.
