Engine Will MT shifter cables from 98-02 work on 96-97?

    Will MT shifter cables from 98-02 work on 96-97?

    topic says it all..
    I'm pretty sure they would since its the same tranny minus the bell housing and teh TRD floor shifter from 98-02 works for 93-97.. but can anyone confirm?

    They may not, because the dimensions of the 4A-FE and 7A-FE are different when compared to the 1ZZ-FE and ther mounting locations within the hood are different hence they may be slitghtly different not completely sure but my $.02.

    Yea it would be safer to stick with the same gen but I want to take whatever I can find. But dispite the difference, the tranny is in the same place and acuated the same way.. I guess the only way to tell is to look up parts no. via EPC from a dealer. My local one is already pissed at me for only coming in for parts no. and never buying anything.:p

    so the 98-00 trd complete shifter kit fits huh? it did look like it did, so I'm gonna save up for those. I'm like 80% sure those cables will work man.

    They wont work from 93 to a 98 but i don't know about the reverse....

    ok, i'll play it safe with shifter cables from a 96-97 then. Out of curiosity, which part did not fit? The shifter end, or tranny end? Or is it the length?
