$200 from HID Outlet at Crystal Mall. They also have a wholesale in Richmond
    www.hidoutlet.ca
it's their April Special, but they still have like ~10 sets left for that price.

it's Bosch Slim Ballast and SmartEye Bulbs (they said Bosch don't make bulbs, whatever) comes with 1 year warranty so I am covered as long as they don't shut down.

I am not sure how to aim my headlights, I see that my right headlight is a little big higher than my left one. stupid repair guys who fixed my fenders/bumpers/headlights last time didn't align it.

You can probably find a DIY on MO but basically you have to park the front of your car close to a wall on level ground, mark the centre of the headlights vetically and horizontally, then drive back 25 ft and make sure the brightest spot of the headlights is under the horizontal line and to the right of the vertical line (meaning, aimed down and away from the oncoming drivers). Then with HIDs you want to aim it away from oncoming drivers even further, by adjusting it a bit more to the right, and adjusting it a bit more down, how much is a judgement call. You don't want to aim it down too much or else you lose distance, aim it down a bit and see if you get flashed, if you still get flashed then aim it down a bit more. Aiming it to the right will not affect distance of beam but will help reduce scatter light for oncoming drivers anyway. I found that half a inch down and half an inch to the right was good. I did get flashed twice due to the geometrics of the road causing the drivers eyes to be right in my beam path which could happen even with projectors.

It is generally ok for lights to be angled up to the right as that beam won't affect oncoming drivers and will help illuminate highway signs.

Anyway guess what I saw on Robson St. today...

I WANT ONE!!! They're pretty cheap in the US, like $12,000-$13,000, my goodness, I'm so going to import one in a few years. My crappy Treo 650 pictures don't do it justice, actually I don't think any photos do this car justice, it's just beautiful and so cool in person.

Like it or not, your next car may be a hybrid
Still small, but segment poised to boom
By Julie Beun-Chown, Canwest News ServiceApril 23, 2009

Experts warn fuel prices could skyrocket again, the troubled environment is on everyone's mind, and the world economy -- well, the less said the better.

So what kind of car will you be driving in the years ahead as you meet the challenges of the times? If plans by all major automakers fall into place, chances are it will be a hybrid vehicle.

Despite a serious slump in auto sales -- ScotiaCapital's Global Auto Report last month says the big four manufacturers' retail volumes were down by 40% over last year -- carmakers are pouring serious long-term research and development dollars into hybrids.

Consider the evidence: Toyota has committed to rolling out hybrids across their entire line by 2020, are testing electric vehicles this year and launching the updated Prius in 2010. GM, whose sales fell by 50% over last year according to ScotiaCapital, is putting its hopes squarely on the hood of the Chevrolet Volt. Honda, already a world leader in hybrid technology, has the Insight, while Nissan, Ford and even luxury British automaker Bentley have hybrids or flex-fuel vehicles in the works. And there will be more to come, predicts Bradley Berman, editor at the online industry and consumer site, Hybrid.com.Although the industry's current economic woes have seriously dented profits, "hybrid sales have experienced tremendous growth since their introduction to the North American market between 1999 and 2008," he says. "The current downturn of the economy and drop in fuel prices took some of the momentum away, but the thing to consider is the overall trend.

"In my discussions with product planners at major manufacturers, it's widely understood that the long-term view is for carmakers to emphasize fuel efficiency and to migrate away from 100% reliance on petroleum."

Diminishing fossil fuel resources aside, Mr. Berman says, car manufacturers churning out traditional vehicles will soon face another impetus for change.

"The urgency of global warming is such that carmakers will need to be taxed or inhibited from producing vehicles that release carbon into the atmosphere," he says. "In a few decades, by 2020 or 2030, if manufacturers still want to be in business they'll have to go into hybrids."

Some, like Toyota, are already there. Noted for putting "a million dollars an hour into R&D, 24/7, 365 days a year," says Sandy Di Felice, Toyota Canada's director of external affairs, the Japanese automaker is determined to dominate hybrid sales when the economy returns to full force.

Although Ms. Di Felice admits there was "an overall softening of the Canadian automotive market" over last year's phenomenal increases (Prius sales rose by 73%; the hybrid Highlander went up by 160%), she says buyers still want hybrids. "Where we had a hybrid option available, we are finding that 20 to 30% of customers are choosing a hybrid."

While some of those customers are famous -- Miley Cyrus, Tom Hanks, Sting and Tim Robbins are just a few of the celebrities who reportedly drive hybrids -- most are notable for a different reason.

According to a 2007 Scarborough Research survey, 42% of hybrid owners make more than US$100,000 a year; they're more than twice as likely to have a university degree and are 23% more likely to be age 50 or older.

They're also healthy: "Hybrid owners are active, engaged in outdoor activities and health-conscious," the report says.

In fact, they're more likely than average car owners to go to the gym, ski, do yoga, buy organic and hike. They're also less likely to want a car that dents their lifestyle, Ms. Di Felice says.

"One of the things we've understood through the development of future technology is that customers who embrace the products don't want a radical change to their lifestyle.

"They want a vehicle that they know can take them where they want to go and is reliable.

"They don't want to have to go to a special gas station or to drive in a different vehicle. Perhaps not, but that time will come," Mr. Berman notes. "Eventually, vehicles will be powered by electricity, hydrogen fuel cells or similar energy sources that will dramatically change usage. If you look at the very furthest end game," he says, "many of these vehicles will have multiple drive trains and fuel sources. It makes sense. It's no longer a monolithic technology."

Even so, it will be decades in the making. "Right now, hybrids are just 2.5% of the market, so we have a long way to go," he says. "It's more of an evolutionary than revolutionary kind of change."

    Hahaha... thanks Jeff.

For those AE101/2 sedan owners who want a set of lowering springs, let me know. Suspension technique springs dropping 1.3" all round. Decent spring rates similar to Eibach, improvement over OEM for sure.

I was holding out for $50 for the set of 4, but I'm gonna let it go for free to anyone who wants it. Hopefully someone will have use for it.

    Cheers!

yah - breastfeeding, been there, done that. :D

i guess many of the guys have more or less "graduated" from car stuff or have been busy with family life... like eugene and myself.
jimmy's back to school, eric is working full time i believe - i see eric once in a while. his office is like a block from mine. kenny is working full time too, i think - and i believe he's taking the bus now.

i try to stay in touch with eugene... giving him tips on what to do when his breasts are sore from breastfeeding. :smilegrou

i'm lucky enough that my work revolves around the computer and internet so i check this place out weekly. :D

i have an oem sienna manual, but it's pretty useless
toyota oem manuals are useless, they show u where the screws/bolts are - but they dont show u how to remove step by step. honda oem manual shows u everything.

i'll check out the manuals at the library.
i did find some online materials that sorta helped a bit.

Finally updated my cardomain in case you guys wanted to take a look. Big thanks to Eugene for the strut brace and lowering springs. Put the strut brace in but haven't got around to lowering it yet. I just got the rims and threw them on for now. I'm gonna refinish them in the winter. Hope to see you guys around Van.

    looking nice.
your car is same color as eugene's.
i think a 4 or 5 spoke wheel would look better or try to get some oem toyota mags. there's a place in richmond by T&T that may have used oem if you ever want them.

Ouch!....my post is alomst two months old~~

yeah...i agree with you~ most of the guys "graduated" from car stuff~ i don't do any mod on my car anymore, and i prefer to get a better car instead of moding it. plus, i just odn't have the time anymore ever since i got back to taiwan. The living pace in asia is much much faster than canada.

I miss the old lay-back days in vancouver. I wishi could go back to high school jsut for one day..LOL:)

anyways~ i think i will be visiting vancouver next march, and i hope to meet you guys again !! hopefully, i can still speak English~ i don't use it here at all.~haha:p

i think everyone's quality is going down, even toyota.
ford's quality is apparently going up and they're the only one with increased sales for the past few months or something like that.

yeah, hopefully we can have a get together of some kind and catch up on things.

check out the 2011 toyota sienna. :dance1:
for you guys who need a minivan - check it out, wow! :D
it looks like a mix of venza, rear looks of sequoia, front looks of honda odyssey. supposedly, you can get a 4-banger which is pretty stupid in my opinion. 4-banger with 180+ horses for such a big van. my 1st gen sienna with v6 and 194 horses is barely enough when fully loaded with 7 people and pretty slow with empty and yet... they're offering a 4-banger with 180+ horses. :superconf:shutup:

V6 is the way to go with 270+ horses :D
