The Gran Turismo 4 Time Trials

For those of you who play GT4 I figured I'd start a thread to have a little inter vvt-i competition on how we stack up against each other. We'll see where this goes. I raced a series of cars, all about the same power weight ratio, and bone stock (with new oil) on El Capitan Normal. Here are my best lap times per car:

    Toyota Supra RZ 1997- 1'54.109
    Lotus Elise 111R 2004- 1'54.659
    Honda NSX 1999- 1'55.133
    Nissan 350Z Gran Turismo 4 Lm Ed. 2005- 1'55.473
    Pontiac GTO 5.7 Coupe 2005- 1'55.966
    Nissan Skyline GT-R VSpec II N1 2000- 1'56.236
    Ford Mustang GT 2005- 1'57.586
    BMW M Coupe 1998- 1'59.072

    Where does everyone else stand?

I don't have Forza or an X-Box either, haha... why can't they make a realistic racing game like GT4 or Forza for the PC? NFS used to be decent :(

to many non simalarties between computers... with consols they are all the same, same hardware same software everything, right down to the brand of resistors in them... they can make the game and take it to the limits of the system and not have to worry about crashing a system... if it works one one it'll work on them all, peoples PC's are to varried, thats fine for FPS but if you want a driving simulator you nee dot have something that is going to perform the same way for everybody, not just the select few that can afford to build a top end system..

    El Capitan, Normal.

    Nissan Motul Pitwork Z (JGTC) 04- 1'32.664
    Nissan R92 CP Race Car '92- 1'24.586

Both cars with medium tires. No horsepower add-ons.

Damn I can't seem to get below 2 minutes in any of those cars listed in the first post. I'm a lil rusty to say the least.

Well allright, now I got something to shoot for! I could probably throw super soft tires on and cut that down even more, but I'll see what I can do with the medium tires.

I'm learning Nurburgring right now. I took a 98 Levin, bone stock, around it in 8'58.5 seconds. I'll have to see what I can do with quicker cars once I get all the corners figured out.

nice, we've got a competition now...but I say we all race the Nurburgring with cars running under 1000hp on any other mods you want...I suck at running the Ring but that track is real fun to drive on...what do you all say??..

Edit: yea 10R, you definately have to drive it a couple times and learn it to really grasp the track...but after a few runs, it gets easier to memorize...

wait till 10R has his way with a Formula on El Capitan... he's only been using Le Mans cars so far. I only pulled a 1'20 in the Nissan, and that was with Stage 4 turbo and Super Slicks. I can still improve on those records, though. El Capitan is totally insane for cars as low to the ground as the race car and Formula car. The tires get hoppin' waaaay too much.

El Capitan definitely makes you play with tuning in order to get the best times. For me, stiffening the suspension to the max and making my car all the way lowered isn't getting me the fastest times. I've got my spring rate about 3/4 maxed as well as bound and rebound, and ride height 10mm up from bottomed out. Front camber 3.5 degrees and rear 0 degrees. Brakes I have set at 24 front, 19 rear. Brakes seemed to change the handling the most for me

www.gtplanet.net has times posted up on all the courses. I think it'll be pretty interesting what I can swing for times once I have a formula car. For now, I'll turbo up my R92 and see what I can put up for a time.
