Are you more of a "SHOW" person or a "SLEEPER" person

Yeah if they made crate motors, cams and bolt on turbo kits for our cars I would have jumped all over that stuff a long time ago. We're reduced to what you can find on ebay for the most part, which is really sad. I really don't feel like getting a new car, but it's very tempting because modding Corollas is so difficult.

that's a hard one for me to answer..... to those that know me they would say i go for performance..... those that see my cars would say otherwise....

the ae92 has a completely custom front end (from a silvia)..... but it also has a smallport 4age swapped in and over $1,000 in suspension..... i haven't run into a FWD car that can keep up in the corners

the aw11 (compared to most 4 cyl cars....including b18c5's and sr20det's) is pretty damn fast with the 4agze.... only has some nasty 14" wheels and some suspension work.... along with a nicely dented fender and a ricer muffler off the back..... but some would take that car the wrong way (if they weren't trying to keep up or something) and call it a poorly done "show" car i guess (cause it doesn't look stock)

i can't really vote either way.... i hope that sometime in the future both are good enough looking to get attention at a show, but also be able to be one of the better cars at the track....

I have more money in my drivetrain than I have on appearance..lol

for my cars they all have to look clean and as stock as possible of course (except for rims and a lip kit u know just little things like that nothin too over the top...) I'm a MIX but I tend to lean to the PERFORMANCE part way more than the LOOKS part. SPEED is more of a serving purpose to me than SHOW hehehehe......

I dunno, I think there's plenty of good performance parts out there. It's just you have to think outside the box, and like anything, have money.

modding corollas is hard because the parts are REALLY expensive so it takes a while and what not but damn once it's done u'll b gettin major feedback from ppl at meets and what not....... IF I buy my next rolla I'll drop all kinds of goodies in it fo zho don't matter the coin or how long

Aftermarket parts aren't anymore expensive than quality parts for other cars. Problem is, most corolla owners are cheap, and when it comes down to spending the big bucks, they wimp out.

ditto, any fool with a couple grand to spare can make a civic perform, besides being expensive, corolla parts are often hard as hell 2 find, low quality, and get discontinued and in most cases if u want anything for a rolla it has to be either special ordered or custom if u go to a shop

Not really, there's enough parts, you just gotta know what you're doing. 98-02's are the only ones that might have shitty suspension parts. But other than that, every corolla has potential in the aftermarket.

ur right i shuda specified, 9th gens have decent support, i drive a 00' so maybe i was a little biased

2000's have aftermarket. They still have the 1zz-fe. You can do quite a bit internally to them, just got to think outside the box. Remember, the celica gt, matrix xr, and the base corolla all share the same engine more or less. Just because something says it's meant for the celica, doesn't mean you can't use it on your car.

For example, an easy mod, run a celica intake manifold and throttle body, then do a custom short ram intake. That'll boost your power a bit. You could also make your own harness adapter to run a celica gt ECU. Or to run the Power FC.

i wish i knew how 2 do that on my own ... but neway we still agree that modding a rolla is going down a road less traveled

I don't think it's hard to mod a corolla, it's just not as obvious on the parts support. I don't care for cheap poorly engineered parts, i'm happy when reputable companies have the parts.

The last 2 or 3 months have been really nice for me. I found hope in my car after finding Hotchkis releasing their stage 2 suspension kit. Plus, finding, Toda, JUN, Wiseco, TRD, and Crower, all major reputable companies, having major parts for my corolla. Which BTW, I think almost all of those parts would work with your car also.

Oh, you also have the option of getting JIC to make you a custom set of coilovers. It'd probably be in the 2 grand range, but it's the best way to go since they can match it to your application.

Yeah you can get all that stuff if you have a 98+ corolla. Who makes pistons, cams, valve kits or any of that for the 93-97's? No one.

You can do 4age and 4agze swaps in the 93-97's can't you?

i persoanlly think if u have a nice looking car you should be able to back ur shit up. but i do understand that u invest so much money on ur ride that u dont want to mess it up

Engine swaps are great, but not everyone has the time and money for what that involves. If I get an internship on Wall Street, you can bet my Corolla is going to be decked out.

Not much that will make a significant difference, and that you couldn't do to almost any other car..intake/exhaust is basically universal. Didn't Vamp actually lose power with the Celica intake manifold/TB?

There are no superchargers, turbochargers, or swaps that don't require a LOT of work..

Any f/i setup will require plenty of work to get installed...and then it needs to be tuned. Same thing goes for swaps (though tuning isn't always required). You could always go for a custom turbo.

Regardless of whether you're going f/i or n/a, Crower has recently come out with cams for the 1ZZ (they're actually listed under Corolla, not Celica, lol). They aren't listed on the site, but if you email them they can send you the info (there's also threads about this on the Celica forums). MWR also has pistons, rods, etc.

For n/a you could do a short-ram intake, a custom catback (will make more power than any axleback), and port your header (it's been done to a Celica...about 4-5 whp vs. losing power with aftermarket header).

It's definitely tough to mod a car with limited aftermarket support, because a lot of the hard work done by companies isn't done. It's definitely doable, and there are definitely options.

This is just me. In my opinion. Rice is anything that has absolutly no function on your car. i.e. A hood scoop, Unless you have a top mounted intercooler, or running a carb. There is no use for them. Stickers. If you got sponsers sure. If your closest neighbor to where your car cools its jets is 50 miles away sure. But unless you want to advertise your car to the next coveting bastage, or you actually think they induce fear or increase horse power nah. Eeek. rambling. I like sleeper better than show
