    i'm a new mommy!

well...i'm a mommy to a gecko, at any rate. i picked up my first pet since i had fish when i was a kid. she's a leopard gecko...and she's effing CUTE. she's so tiny, too. does anyone else have gecko/herp experience?

random tidbits about leopard geckos: they're one of the only gecko species to have eyelids and lack sticky toe pads, and they live an average of 20 years if cared for correctly. the oldest known captive leopard was a healthy 27 years before it died.

    TWENTY SEVEN YEARS!!!

    ok, on with the pics...

i've notice she's got a boob fetish, too. every time a girl holds her, the first thing she does is beeline for the boobs. Mike's all sorts of amused.

what's Murphy, and why would it have access to a gecko when the gecko would be safely secured in a tank?

Thats a goofy looking pet you've got there Laura, I like it!

I wonder what my dog would think of it? I bet he'd either be scared of it, or start crying because it won't play with him.

Mike - i am completely enamored with her. :D i doubt your dog would know she's there if you had one, since most of the time they sit in their tanks.

customz - thanks! she's pretty healthy...her tail's not really fat like one of her sisters' but all that'll take is her adjusting to her new home.

rolla95 - why, are you trying to stick to a one-tank home?

    lol

well, if you end up thinking you might want one, keep in mind they live for at least 20 years if they're healthy and well cared for...so it really is an investment in time.

i used to have, a 6' ball python, 5' iguana, 3 geckos, 5 anoles, 2 baby iguanas, and a red tail boa. reptiles are fun to own, i would basically raise them and sell them. used to go to florida all the time and catch geckos.

you ever see a ( what people in florida call ) jesus lizards, coolest things ive ever seen, also the hardest to catch. run on 2 legs across water and all that.

good luck with the lizard, and in the short time ive known you, im sure you will be over protective of her lol j/k

LOL...Kenny, do i come off that protective? hahah. for some reason it doesn't surprise me that you like reptiles. in a month or so, when i drag Derrick to the reptile show/meet over in Aberdeen, do you want to join us?

as for her...she's eating like a little pig now...it's great.

That is AWESOME and I must say one ADORABLE lil critter...but it won't save you...oh wait we've already done that.

Glad you could get what you've been wanting, I used to want an iguana till I read up on how HUUUUGE they can get. University I went to had an iguana that just ran around the science building all day...he was super cool...sitting in the middle of a biology lecture and he'd scamper in...look around...and leave...he liked the spotlight...no pun intended I swear.

How big do geicos get...GEEZ...geckos...how big to geckos get I mean? And what do they like to eat? (for reals I'm curious)

As for his (her or his?) exploritory habits...it knows whats good can't blame it ;)

    LOL
well, she'll get to be about 6-10 inches long at most, so she's easily contained within a tank...
and i still think she's wierd. a month later she's taken to sitting IN her water dish, just staring at me. and the boobs.
i <3 ball pythons, but i have no idea how to care for them. my next step will be a couple of small ringneck snakes either this spring or next...and maybe a corn after that.
well you can come check out Delirium if you want. it's not like i'm on the other side of the planet. :p
