so..... since the intake/exhaust are swapped on the ZZ motors.... but the tranny is the same (which means they rotate the same way)..... if you were to look at the cam timing between a ZZ and an A motor.... are the cams like 180* off from one another? I was originally thinking that they used a different tranny (or gearing) which rotated the opposite way... or that the motor rotated like a honduh..... but apparently i didn't think that much into it (mind you, i have never worked on a 1zz, yet)

For one, I never said it was superior. Sorry if you got your panties all up in a bunch when I said that I thought it was pointless to spend a few grand on a car to make it "faster", when in reality it is still pretty slow compared to the current cars out on the road, especially when its what you do for a living. Its obvious that you just jumped in here and threw that arrogant comment out because you have always had an issue with me and the other board. And in regards to just "adding a chip", Im in the process of upgrading my turbo, which will put me up easily over 300 hp, and the entire job will be less than a turbo install on a corolla would be.

And you mentioning the mr2 completely shows that you missed the entire fucking point. Youre talking about a car from 1988.......1988!!!! 20 years ago!!!! I even said that if this were the early to mid 90s, I would see the point in it. But its 2005, where cars are coming out of the factory with easily 200hp.

I still fail to see your point here. You come in here and totally bash someone else's car...does it make ya feel good and all warm and fuzzy inside? I admit that I bash people too, but never have I said "I hate corollas" out of respect for everyone on this board".

You can bash europeans cars all ya want, but the european car scene is much more lavish and exciting than the corolla scene ever was when I was involved with it. In no ways do I dislike corollas.....I myself had a corolla for many years, and loved modding it. But I grew up, and have moved on.

Lavish isnt the word I meant to use.....classy is more like it. Go to a european based car show, where there are BMWs, VWs, Audis, etc....its an entirely different scene. Much more cleaner.

But I do admit that there are many more clean looking, well done corollas now than when I was big into the scene.

Tweak has had issues with me since the beginning, so I could care less. Ever since the "vvt-i.net is better than vvti.net" argument he started a while back. As if its a competition between the two boards. Its the farking internet.

Im just in a bad mood and a lot of pain and my surgery is in a few hours....making me jumpy. But I still stand by my opinion. Getting a taste of my own medicine, but its all good....makes it fun

One of your monthly payments is probably more than I paid for my entire car. Once I start working and I actually have money to spend, my rolla is going to be a monster.

I do have to agree with E on this one but well I like the Corollas though, and well it's mainly about what you like and what you can afford you know, some are more priviledged than others.

One of my monthly payments on what? My passat? Originally my payments were 420...then refinanced and knocked down to 375, and now its paid off.

And I bet you that once you get a well paying job, youll get rid of your corolla for something new.

LOL, e_andree, you've got issues man. You been taking too many meds, or what?

First off, how does me calling you out on Passats being such a great car (where, as toyotaspeed90 backed me up, it's not even on the list from Consumer Reports) equate to my "mod powers going to my head"? I mean, where did that even come from? Ooooh, I called you out so it must be the mods powers going to my head! Oh no, not again! How about a straight answer to that question instead of beating around the bush like you always do?

Then it just gets better... toyotaspeed90 backs my post up with hard proof of what I just said, and then your response is what? "Its obvious that you just jumped in here and threw that arrogant comment out because you have always had an issue with me and the other board." Ooooh, poor little e_andree, everyone picks on him all the time, like the mean Dr Tweak. Who has had "issues" with him since "the beginning".

In case you forgot, you and I agreed that it was silly to have two boards and YOU said that you were fed up with David and his crap, remember? And you are seriously flattering yourself thinking that I have "issues" with you. If that's keeping you up at night, I suggest staying away from the internet for a little while.

Actually, I think you put it best yourself: "Im just in a bad mood and a lot of pain and my surgery is in a few hours....making me jumpy. But I still stand by my opinion. Getting a taste of my own medicine, but its all good....makes it fun"

By the way, the rules that CB wrote specify that flaming and direct attacks are not allowed on the board. I have edited one of your posts to reflect that, now consider this a warning.

Nope, they rotate the same way, the head just flows in the other direction. The tranny is a C50-series through and through, just with a different housing :)

All im saying is that you comment about Passats had zero relevance to the subject at hand. It was a cheap shot, and you know it. Lets not skirt the issue.

You want to not skirt the issue? Maybe we should go back to the post that started it all:

All I'M saying is, you shouldn't be dissing Corollas, especially on a Corolla forum. I mean, If you "can't see the point of doing all this work on these Corollas", then why are you on this forum? Seriously?

    THAT'S the issue.

    I think i need more

I shouldnt be dissing corollas? Thats calling the kettle black.....
No, its one thing to respect a corolla, and to be a past owner of one. I have never come on this board and said that corollas flat out sucked. If someone signed up on this board and started saying that, they would be gone! It would be disrespectful. And Im not the only the that thinks that way....some have corollas with no mods on this board, and have no plans to put thousands of dollars into an older car. I can voice my opinion that I dont see the point in risking it......and i guess you can come into a thread and flat out put down someone elses car, (when it has nothing to do with the thread) saying its a piece of shit and they suck. A pretty lame statement. Its not that is offended me, because it didnt. I love my passat and I love the euro scene.

So you have to want to mod a corolla to be on this site?

So doc, what do you actually have as a daily driver?

    e_andre....

why do you think i have anything against you? i really don't.... however, when people come onto a corolla forum, seem to have problems with the car, then post 'facts' that can't be found as easily (and when i do consumer research i find hard evidence 100% against what you showed, and I asked where you got yours from) as you claim..... of course i'm going to have a rebuttle. I'm willing to bet that there are quite a few people on this forum (myself included) that understand that the corolla isn't the fastest thing out there (however, there are many out there that can easily outrun most VW's on the road) but mod the car for a number of reasons

YOUR whole point was 'why waste time on that car when you can buy cars with much more HP than you'll be able to extract from you corolla'.... if i'm not mistaken (and i can easily go back and quote it)

and MY point was this..... an automatic (stock) SC mr2 from 0-30mph will STILL kick your VW's ass.... whether it's 20 years old or not has nothing to do with the point.... All i was simply showing was the some people want their car for one reason, others want it for another (ie, 1/4 mile, 1/8 mile, auto-x, road course, 'street racing' unfortunately, show, cruising... whatever) and the fact that you're claiming it's pointless to mod that car is really a moot point when different people want different things...... (and this is where the thinking was needed, apparently) and i was simply throwing what you said back in your face.... if your vehicle purpose was to be one of the fastest from 0-30mph then why are you wasting your time with a passat?

and nobody on here is denying the fact that you can easily upgrade your electronics, or your fuel system, or your turbo to get more power. In fact, IF someone on here has done a turbo setup, then they too can do just the same. There's a 400+ whp turbo ae86 over on TN. That fact really has nothing to do with VW (which was another point i had)... it was just a simple fact of turbocharged cars (and when you said it, you were narrowing it down to VW's and european cars, pretty much putting them on a pedastal, because they can do that)

and lastly... i'm not going to blow smoke up anybodys ass and tell them that a corolla can easily be a big power car. In fact, if anyone were looking into a corolla i probably wouldn't (myself, and yes i am biased) reccommend anything after an ae92..... simply because they're a light, agile, and easily upgradable car. But if some moron comes into my work talking about how fast their car is, the first thing in my mind isn't my corolla, it IS my mr2 (unless we're talking cornering)......

Calling the kettle black? If I was on a VW forum saying that, that would be one thing, but I'm not, I'm on a Toyota forum.
And no, you don't need to mod a Corolla to be on this forum, you don't even need to own one. You SHOULD at least support the concept though, and not be telling people that modding a Corolla is stupid and that they're better of buying a VW. If you want to do that, you can go somewhere else.

    I drive a '95 Toyota Corolla and a '98 Jeep Cherokee.

Enough said, thread closed. Lockie, do your little dance.
