Somehow I don't think he bought the first one in the US. I saw one on the lot at a Mazda dealer in VA about 2 weeks ago. Doesn't mean that one was up for sale yet, but I think they've been around for a while at least.

How do you know it is the first one? Does the inside of the door say like "#1" or something ;)

Apparantly they(Magoo Mazda) looked it up in their systems. [What you think I'd make something like that up, or just pull it outta my ass?] :) You don't have to believe me but my friend is no BSer. They haven't been around for a while, I can say that. We knew they were coming because the hype was out but the cars just recently hit the lots.

Anyway, the ride is nice. I am very impressed with the car.

:meh: well damn, he must have misunderstood the dealer then. Oh well. :) It is sweet.

I think its a lot sexier than the regular Mazda 6.

Yeah...they are nice...but after reading through Mazda6 Forums...we'll see if he blows his motor at 30k miles...has rod knock for no reason, has smoke pouring out his pipes at idle, and has problems keeping the car running.

I was real interested in getting a Mazda6...and then went and test drove it...nice smooth ride, but everything I've read says it has sh!t for reliability. So whoever owns thie Mazdaspeed 6...tell them to take extremely good care of it.

I'm not sure if it's just Mazda itself, or if it's these people driving the cars. Maybe they all just don't know how to maintain their vehicles. But it did turn me off from buying one. Those specific thread titles were out of the 3.0L V6 sub-forum on http://www.mazda6club.com/forums

The 2.4L 4-cyl wasn't much better. But maybe they improved on the Mazdaspeed...after 10,000 miles have him see how he likes it and report back.

the mazda 6 is a v6, the mazdaspeed 6 is like a 2.3 or 2.4 liter 4 cylinder, wit like 270hp or someting very close to that, i doubt it will ahve the same problems as the 3.0

Mazda 6i is the 2.3 I4 with like 160hp, the Mazda 6s is the 3.0 V6 with 220 or 221hp and the Mazdaspeed 6 is the 2.3 Turbo with 274hp and AWD, at least in Canada that is how they go...

That's what it is TeeVee. You're right.
I have not been in the Mazda 6 yet, but the Mazdaspeed 6 handles really well.

    CR98,
He won't race it. He just wants to have more power and whatnot. He knows to break it in. :)

I read about some issues with heatsoak, and going into limp mode after a few hard runs. Also the AWD is not all that great, since it is primarily a FWD car with some bits added to make it AWD.

I checked out the interior on the 6 and I am not too impressed with it, plus like others said the exterior is kind of fugly. Oh well, at least it is competitive for a 30G car.

I'd like to see someone move the intercooler from the top of the engine and get a proper FMIC in the front of the car, would help develop a bit more power and probably help with the heat issue a bit too (2 reasons, 1 a bigger intercooler getting more cold air and second, the extra space on the top of the engine when you remove the top mount IC will allow more heat dissipation)
