What do u all think about a 04 Sentra Spec V

One of my friends wants to sell his 04 Sentra Spec V, it will have 25k when he is ready to sell it off. Reason he is selling is because he hates FWD cars to an extreme amount reason being is because he had a RWD drive car before and loved it too much

So i can get a good deal on that car, it has motor mounts, a cold air intake and a catback exhaust. The catback exhaust actually has a muffler on it unlike others, i just forget the name of it at the moment. Its the 6 speed manual and its basically stock besides that. Tires, Rims, suspension audio and so on all stock.

I think its a good deal, he might let go of it for 10k for me. I think its a steal... Even though he did race with it for most of its lifetime it has been taken care of and only has 25k. Most likely all i will need is a new clutch which i will replace myself after i learn to drive stick first :) lol Its black btw

edit: I'll end up selling off my car to get that one, but its not until summer this will happen most likely so who knows if i even go through with it, i only have 56k on it and still have warranty till may, so idk

ya i have 2 friends with 03 and 04 SE-R's and one with a Spec V, the engien recalls were on the older models 00-02, there are no recalls on the 04, there's other ones about heatshield and stuff but they are all free replacements, and the car is still under warranty anyway, so it will go in b4 i take it

till may, thats when my extended warranty is expired
it was kinda pointless on buying i guess, but never can be too safe, i didn't even use that warranty......
kinda think of it, the car has only been in the dealer for a defect once, and that was a MAF failure or sometin, but thats bout it damn good realibility...
But my luck is gonna run out soon, car won't go for another 5 years i think

10 grand is not a bad price but just the fact of him racing it doesn't give out too many positive things you know..... it might only have 25k miles and maintenance done to it BUT there will always be the fact that it has been abused.

but if u think about it, every car that a person like me would think about is going ot be abused.... so idk.... like he doesn't race it all the time, but he drives spirited... but he said he gets about 300 miles on a tank, that means that he doesn't drive it that fast casue his economy would be down the drain

my roomie has an 02 SER. his has 40k on it and no problems so far except it looks like it drinks oil(he got it a month ago and the oil is already lower than normal and black). its under warranty though so it shouldnt be a problem. i have another friend who has an 04 and it doesnt drink oil like the 02 does so i guess the 04 they solved that problem. my roomie bought his 02 SER AUTO for 11k. so 10k for an 04 specV is a steal.

ya and even if i do turbo my rolla it still can't beat a spec v lol, turbo rolla pushes like 160-170 at like 8psi, spec v pushes that N/A and it has a 6 speed

    What's the hp/tq for SpecV?
I think ppl said rolla XRS can beat it. IF that's turth, then I don't see why 01 turbo rolla can't.

The Sentre SE-R Spec V isn't as fast as it's number would suggest though... I've ran against 2 with my Integra, both times it was basically an even race... and my car only has 142/127 hp/trq

Vortex would disagree with that :) I think he is well over 200hp on stock internals.

the one that i wanna get has beaten a mini cooper s manual and a lexus IS 300. Those 2 cars are hard to beat... it stayed with them till it hit the governor. It also ran a 15.1 on the quarter mile on the track. 15.3 was the slowest time he got

and yes it is 175hp and 180 torque stock. THis one has a cold air and the vibrant catback on it, so its a little more then that

From Motor Trend in January 2004...

    2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V

    0-60 mph - 7.2s
    1/4 mile - 15.3 @ 90.4 mph
    60-0 braking - 138 ft

So decent specs, but still not overly impressive imo for 175hp and all that torque...

15.1 is wat his best time was, idk like it might not seem fast, but like we had 4 people in the car and that thing still pulled like crazy

I'm not saying its not fast, for a four door economy car, it hauls... but I guess those roots are also why its not as fast as it should be for the power/torque... but still, quick enough car, and for 10 grand... if I had it, i'd probably get it (after getting it checked out by a mechanic or two)
