25 Reasons to be a Republican

    1. You believe that drug addiction is a moral failing and a crime, unless the addict is a millionaire conservative radio jock which then makes it an "illness" and he needs our prayers for his "recovery".

    2. You believe that those privileged from birth achieve success all on their own.

    3. You believe that the US should get out of the UN, and that our highest national priority is to enforce the UN's resolutions against Iraq.

    4. You believe that the government should stay out of people's lives but it needs to punish anyone caught having private sex with the "wrong" gender.

    5. You believe that pollution is okay, so long as it makes a profit.

    6. You believe in prayer is schools, as long as they don't prey to Allah or Buddha.

    7. You believe "Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India.

    8. You believe that a woman cannot be trusted with decisions about her own body, but that large multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind with no regulation whatsoever.

    9. You believe that you love Jesus and Jesus loves you, and that Jesus shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary.

    10. You hate the ACLU for representing convicted felons, but they owed it to the country to bail out Oliver North.

    11. You believe that the best way to encourage military moral is to praise the troops overseas while cutting their VA benefits.

    12. You believe that group sex and drug use are degenerate sins that can only be purged by running for governor of California as a Republican.

    13. You believe it is wise to keep condoms out of schools, because we all know if teenagers don't have condoms they won't have sex.

    14. You believe that the best way to fight terrorism is to alienate our allies and then demand their cooperation and money.

    15. You believe that government medicine is wrong and that HMO's and insurance companies have your best interests at heart.

    16. You believe that giving free health care to all Iraqis is sound government policy but giving free health care to Americans is socialism.

    17. You believe that tobacco's link to cancer and global warming are "junk science", but Creationism should be taught in schools.

    18. You believe that waging war with no exit strategy was wrong in Vietnam but right in Iraq.

    19. You believe that Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney was doing business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

    20. You believe that government should restrict itself to just the powers named in the Constitution, which includes banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

    21. You believe that the public has a right to know about the adulterous affairs of Democrats, while those of Republicans are a "private matter".

    22. You believe that the public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades but that Bush was right to censor 28 pages from the Congressional 9/11 report because you can't handle the truth.

    23. You support state rights, which means Ashcroft telling states what locally passed voter initiatives he will allow them to have.

    24. You believe that what Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital national interest but what Bush did in the 1980's is "stale news" and "irrelevant".

    25. You believe that trade with Cuba is wrong because it is communist, but trading with China and Vietnam is good for business.

Why do you assume that group of low-lives who happen to be republican represent the whole of the republican party? If a democrat went and murdered someone, would it be accurate to call all democrats murderers?

No, we believe people who are born into success are spoiled, we believe people who work hard earn success on their own.

Once again, you take a small group of people and use it to reflect the whole.

Weren't you the one making a big deal about how we pushed into clinton's sex life? I'd also take a guess and say you say that we use the patriot act to spy on people. Which is it, are we invasive into peoples lives or not?

Again with the small number reflecting a whole, you do realize that belonging to a certain party doesn't mean you believe exactly the same thing as everyone else in your party?

    And again.

You honestly believe that a company run by a democrat wouldn't oursource jobs? It's not a republican problem, it is a national problem.

That is an awful far stretch. A multinational corporation affecting all of mankind, thats an awful far stretch. And aside from believing in different things how are they related?

Again, what the hell are you talking about?

Hate is an awful strong word, most of us, including many democrats, dislike the ACLU, because they pick and choose battles.

Again, because some republicans believe something doesn't make it apply to everyone. If on a liberal message board, a vote goes up about who has the best music today, and Britney Spears wins, yes it is exteremly hypothetical, does that mean that you think Britney Spears has the best music out today? Of course not.

Damn you got me again, I never even voted in California, but because they voted him in, it must be what I believe.

Again with the assumption that everyone agrees. I think most people persoannly think it should be kept out of schools because some parents may not want their children exposed to it. I have seen people that had parents who refused to sign the slip for them to take Sex-ED, because they didn;t want the child exposed to it in school.

Again, you got us. That is just insane. No one believes that was THE BEST way, many people believe it was the best possible choice given the choices.

And how would you say we alienated them? Just because they didn't agree to help us fight doesn't mean that we are alienated.

First, No. Most republicans beleive "government medicine" would ultimately fail. I forget who, I will see if I can find the article, but a canadian official was talking about how the health system in canada is failing, it can take upto 8 days to get treatment for emergencies, and the healthcare doesn't cover everything, people get into car accidents and show up at the hospital and get turned away.

Second, where the hell did you get that we believe HMO's and insurance companies have our best interest at heart? No one is gullible enough to believe that. Again we think given the options, it is the best choice.

See my above reply about free health care. I have to admit, I have never heard that WE wanted to give free health care to the Iraqi's, if you have an article or something, please put it up. Like I said, I hadn't ever heard that, but in context, does it really matter? Iraq has its our government getting stuck into place, they will be amking the decision, they decide to do it or not.

Again, a few people say that, and you tie it to every republican?

What the hell are you talking about? I have never heard a republican say that having no exit strategy was a good idea, as a matter of fact, that is the biggest problem most people have with it. They don't think a date should be set, but an outline as to when we can leave, based on the tasks that are completed.

Damn, again you got us all. You with one statement were able to capture the thoughts running through all of our minds.

Really? Your using a position that is usually, in this day, only held by extereme conservatives.

"4. You believe that the government should stay out of people's lives but it needs to punish anyone caught having private sex with the "wrong" gender."

Which do we belive, that the government should stay out, or that the public has a righ to know? I said it in the other thread, I, as well as many other republicans said that his sex life was his own business, but lying under oath is against the law.

Again, where did any of us on this forum say that?

OH MY GOODNESS, your too good, you got me again. I believe 100% the exact same thing as every other republican in the world.

Again, yes, it is amazing how you somehow know the inner working of every republican on the face of the earth. We are all white-trash rednecks who sit in our trailers, while you sit there next to Ms. Cleo.

Maybe a more approriate name for this thread would be "25 reasons to be Republican, based on my views where I consider you all to be the same".

Not to start a war with these following comments, but here it goes:

*Like bulletproof said, it was all in fun...a joke.
*Just to rationalize things slightly, I presume ob1murry that you are a Republican. Why did you choose the Republican party as yours? Because you share in their beliefs whether it be on a single-issue basis *abortion* or because you share in a majority of their beliefs. In turn, your party elects, or promotes our "leaders." When they screw up their actions become immediatly affiliated with their party. According to number 2 of the joke the rich are born that way. You said they were born spoiled. However, according to your parties mishaps if you will you can be born rich and appointed to any position in the government based on your status. I.E Michael Brown, the former FEMA director...or should I say horse expert? Now while all their views may not tag along with your ideas, you being republican are affiliated with them...thus the concept of parties.

But its not just republicans...we all felt like complete doosh bags during the Clinton fiasco.

I dont consider myself a Republican OR a Democrat.....just because you support the president in office doesnt mean you support his party.

I have beliefs that both Republicans AND Democrats follow

In todays society though there isn't much of a difference between Democrats and Republicans. I'm not saying there are no differences, but the differences they do have aren't nearly as radical as they were in past decades.

I think it would be interesting to see a new party rise and challange either party. Not like the green party, something legit with actual issues that are worth noting.

    #15. Government run medicine

That would be a DISASTER! Sure more people have access, but it forces rationing, lessens competition and innovation and pulls the overall quality of healthcare for EVERYONE down. Dont believe me go look at other countries. I.E. Canada. They come here BTW and PAY FOR HEALTHCARE because they can't get adequate care there and/or are on waiting lists. I have a Canadian friend who's family member did just that.

I disagree. The gap between Democrat and Republican has grown significantly in the last few years. Just look at the last couple elections and how divisive they've been.
