probably a dumb suspension question

i just recently lowered my '00 with tein s-tech springs and KYB struts. i really like the way it sits now. the only problem is when i'm taking turns (not going over bumps) at around 35+mph it sounds like the back tires are hitting the body. i replaced the sway links in the back hoping that would do the trick but its still making that noise.

would this be considered body roll? what can i do to fix this?

the rear tires are rubbing the inside of the fender. It's a common occurance and relatively easy to fix. Take the car to a bodyshop and tell them you need your fenders rolled. They'll take a pipe or something and roll it between the tire and the fender to create more space.

You can do it yourself if you're feeling brave, but be careful not to chip your paint.

FYI I paid $40 to have all four fenders rolled.

what size wheels and tires do you have?

if you have 17"s, rolling should work

me, jspexae102, and sd_s did it ourselves in 1 hour each car, turned out perfect..only had to pay jspexae102 15 bucks for the tool

15's with 205/50/15 tires. My 205/50s look huge compared to most people's so maybe that's why they rubbed.

I have 205/50/15 sitting on a 7" +38mm offset rims and I get slight rubbing on the sidewall if my alignment is off and my camber is just a little positive. Rim and tire width has much more to do with rubbing issues than rim diameter.

Have you noticed that different tires of the same size can look bigger or smaller on different rims? I'm wondering if changing my 15x6.5 wheels to 15x7 will make my tires look more low profile...

Yes, Using a wider rim would increase the tire section width thus putting more usable rubber on the ground. The normal measureing width of a 205/50/15 tire is 6.5" but it can be used on rims anywhere from 6-7.5" depending on the manufacturer.

Rolling fenders is scary shit, be careful, I rolled mine using a baseball bat, rubber mallet and a heat gun and even though I was super careful I still plit the metal in 2 places for about a 1" section, not a big deal since I just covered it with touchup paint and its inside the fenderwell where nobody can see, but I know about it and thats enough to piss me off So if you want to do it just be very careful Also have a lot of touchup paint handy because if you bend the lip up without heating the paint just perfectly it will crack or seperate.

The guys who did mine used a pipe and put it between the fender and the tire. One guy then slowly backed the car up, forcing the pipe to rotate across the top of the fender. Another guy guided the pipe and used it to bend the fender outwards. It only took about 20 mins and they didn't damage anything. Now the car only rubs when I take large bumps at speed with 5 people in the car.

My setup is 205/50/15 tires on a 6.5inch wide wheel with a +38 offset btw.
