a 4 door for sure, no other option except for pontiac-esque plastic body kits for the "higher model". a slight bump in base HP from 130 to 132. new rear suspension for a better, more sporty, ride. and then the XRS will remain the same car, with only the obvious cosmetic changes in the redesign. thats probably it.

^ Agree with everything but my bet would be the XRS will be discontinued once they run out of dead stock 2ZZGE

from taking their entire sports car lineup and dumping it...honestly...if they dropped the supra, celica and the mr2 for the tc....they should be slapped like little bitches...but what I was meaning was that toyota will probably bring out a new sports car to replace them....

They at least need to make a more powerful engine available for the tC. Preferrably a turbocharged engine.

I see the next Corolla having a modified 1ZZ-FE continuing as the base engine (making between 140 and 150hp to better compete with the base offerings of other manufacturers, such as honda with the new civic)... I see them dropping the 2ZZ-GE powered XRS (won't be sold in any worthwhile quantity to continue manufacturing the engine) and making the XRS the hybrid model, but geared towards performance with good gas mileage instead of all out gas mileage (like the RX400h) and probably with a modified 1ZZ-FE with the electric motor making a total of 180~190hp... with the possibility of AWD for the non-hybrid models (as in the current Matrix AWD)...

hmm what i want next Corolla to be:

-normal rollas i would want to see Dual VVT-i to be available in the 1ZZ-FE or other engines
-a 2.0L of the 1ZZ-FE engine would be nice for a base corolla
-may be Diesel Engine is a good idea to bump up more sales that the Jetta or Golf TDI took away...
-lower the car more cuz it is too high off the ground
-suspension should go back to fully independent
    -handling should improve more
-steering needs more feel and precise
-needs sporty styling something that stands out and not look ugly... good ex. is mazda 6
-for corolla XRS i would suggest it to be powered by a good old 3S-GTE w/ Dual VVT-i pumping 280hp SAE and since they own part of subaru now lets use subby's AWD system...
-interior something like the Mark X would be sell...

-bring back the Corolla GT-S aka: Levin / Tureno and build it like the AE86 w/ sweet a$$ steering and RWD

agree to that ^. though i don't think they would put so much power on the XRS even though it is aimed as a sportier version.

Toyota needs to design the next corolla with upgrades in mind. They need to make like 5 new engines that can all fit in the same exact car and a 5spd/auto and 6spd tranny that fits on all of the engines. Cause if I ever buy another Corolla I want so much power that I can never hook the tires up in any gear if I don't want to ;)

Yeah I think if Toyota doesn't make the next Corolla with the tuning community partially in mind, they'll lose that audience to all of the other great cars that are coming out. If you think about it, there are alot of options for sport compact cars... Evo, WRX, SRT-4, the new Si, Eclipse, RSX, Mazda3, even the Cobalt SS and it's Saturn twin. If Toyota doesn't come correct on this next Corolla, or at least give the Scions some real power, they're not going to be able to catch the other guys in terms of sales and brand loyalty.
