i've been to radio shacks where they're over 25...... however, when i go in needing parts for my megasquirt, 1/2 the time they don't know what the hell i'm looking for!

in any case, if i were you i would apply.... if you get the job, doesn't mean you have to take it.....

im pretty sure its minimun wage plus comission and spiffs for sales and such. youre not getting into the tech industry by working there, youre getting into sales with a general knowledge. in order to make money anymore you have to have a skill and find an industry that you can apply it in.

i work at kragen and i get paid 10.75

8.75 minimum + 2 training classes which they give you 1 dollar bonus = 10.75

and on top of that, i get a bonus for everything the customer buys under my associate ID, if they purchase certain items of the month, i get $1-5 dollars depending on item..this WEEK alone i made 37.50 just from ringing people up for stuff they already need..basically free money

every paycheck, i get about 100 dollar bonus from rewards, not too bad but i wish hourly pay was higher

i'm thinking about working at radioshack. the dudes are all over 40yrs there and they are hurting for a worker right now because someone quit a couple of weeks ago.

i know this because i ring up all of them at the store that is next door, giant eagle, a grocery store. i've worked in the kitchen for 6 years, my first and only job.

does almost having an associates in networking hardware and an associates in networking software count for anything?
i really hate my new boss in the kitchen, i want out, but i make $11.45 hr, sundays - $11.95

But thats only because SF has such a high minimum wage.. $8.50, wtf is that? The rest of cali is $6.75.

I suggest working at Fed Ex/UPS/DHL. They have you work 5hrs shifts, anything above is overtime. Starting pay in my area is a bit more than $10 with perks like medical, dental coverage and tuition assistance. even better, no bs customer service.

dude did they send you to CASS and NAO? if they did, you should get a 1 dollar raise for each class..and then go take ASE class and the automotive electrical class..that's another 1 dollar raise lol

but in order to take ASE and automotive electrical, you need to be done with CASS and NAO

actually no... i live in a small house on my own (it's cheap living where i live... i'm like 10 miles south of the Canada border). On top of that, i do all the work on my own, use junkyards quite a bit, get good deals from a lot of friends locally (doesn't hurt that a lot of places will give me discounts because i work at a parts store.... i get 20% off at Toyota).... on top of that, i paid $100 for my current mr2 and only $200 for the last mr2..... the last mr2 i MADE a lot of money off of.... i also have an 86 4 runner i bought not running for $250 that i'm about to trade for an ae86 (once i get the title).

on top of that, i work full time.....

cass/nao are just for new employees (customer service and new associate)..... around here, they aren't that important. those 2 don't give any sort of raise in this district, at least.
The cass/nao are only at the very beginning of the employee progress levels.... i believe (along with other videos and BS training stuff) they are both on the first page (of 10... each being different 'levels' of progress)... to be a parts tech you have to have the first 7 all completed which includes all 4 EWYL tests.

in this district, you get raises if: you move up (ie, i went from Cashier, to Sales Associate, to Parts Tech... and i'm sure by december i'll be Assistant Manager) and for your reviews. That's it.

to do ASE tests and have it be certified and recognized, you have to work at a parts store for at least 2 years (I would have taken the ASE test that's coming up in a couple weeks... i'd pass just fine.... but i have another 4 months or so until my 2 years hit... so i'll just wait).

damn andree, what the fuck is your problem..

just cause you're a rich white boy makin the big bucks doesn't mean we all are..dont be mad cause everyone knows about CSK and you dont..

and yes, i still live with my parents, and i still go to school..what else do you fucking expect from a 18 year old that lives in san francisco, good fucking luck finding a place by yourself if you're not working full time

and toyotaspeed90, it's weird cause you guys do things totally different from us even though same company haha

cass and nao are required within 1 year of date of hire and they give 1 dollar an hour raise each, to take ase test, all you gotta do is ask store manager, he pulls up a pre-test on the rpms2 and if you pass that, he sends you to next class for test
