"Matrix" LEDs in gauges - Silver_Nitrate

I have a 2000 and was wondering if anyone has tried using the 194 "Matrix" LED bulbs in their gauges. These bulbs have a wide angle refractor led on top with 4 side mounted leds on the sides. They look like they would be oversized and not fit into the gauges.

I think that member Silver_Nitrate did this, but I cannot remember if they had to modify or if it worked at all. I found a good deal on these.

Are there still dead spots with these? How bright vs. other LEDs you may have tried?

Hey Yeah at night time it's perfect the only draw back is you can't see the red marking on the tach but that is to be expected. In the day time, you will see some spots but who cares about it. At night it is perfect. search the threads I have taken pics of it so you can see for yourself. I've also bought them from autolumination.com

Searched and don't see the post. Can you give me a link to either the pics or your post?

I am using mine in conjunction with reverse indiglo gauges, I currently have wide angle oval LEDs but I get hot spots. I found a guy on eBay selling the matrix bulbs for $5/pair and low ship.
