    Auto-Trany question...

whats ladies and gents...heres my question...I have an 05 rolla...auto. (but i wish i would have waited for the manual)...anyway, I hate the fact that the trany takes a second or two to shift...so I force the shift by shifting into the
"2" or "L" on the auto trany.

now my question is...what are the consequences of doing that? i'm sure the auto tranny isnt made for a forced down shift...but sometimes i cant help it. but if you guys say its bad for the trany...i think i may need to stop...comments?

    thanks!

Do you mean for downshifting? Won't hurt a thing. For upshifting - probably be faster to leave it in drive and punch it with the OEM setup (will change if you swap valvebody or do some ECM programming). Tranny will take it - the computer will know if a shift will over rev the engine and will wiat until the shift can be completely safely. If you punch it in L and forget to upshift - engine will bang up against the fuel cutoff and rev limiter. But probably not too good for the engine if you do it all day.

if your car has overdrive, take it out of overdrive, and you will be noticably faster from the get go, since your car is not in slow mode.
