    1.5 Vs 1.8

This is a weird one OK

How come the 1.5L Scions and Yaris are faster than our 1.8L Corollas?
and our Corollas have 130stockHP 128torque and the 1.5s have only 108HP 110torque or something close to that, but it still has a 120-130MPH topspeed and ours have only 110MPH on the speedo?

there's no way a scion xA/xB can beat a corolla. even turbo'd the scions only push 125HP. if you can drive you should definitely win.

CB is right there is no way , only if and thats a big if. it has a high pressure turbo and is low on weight that will happen.if anything its the gearing in the tranny itself but even then it has its drawbacks.

Just because the speedometer goes up to a certain speed does not mean the car can go that fast (my dads interpid shoes 250kmh on the speedo, but it has a militer at about 195kmh...) its just for show...

after test driving an Xa auto, Xa 5 speed, and xB auto. i'll tell you right now that all of them can beat my 97 corolla. it's a 1.8l...it's just nothing on a scion and thats really sad. you have to figure in that an Xa is going to be a little lighter than a corolla.
my tC could whoop a 2.4l camry, even though they have the same engine, mine is made for better accelleration, plus, my gearing is really short, which makes for much faster accelleration.

None of the Scion are faster than a rolla. Except for the tc, but the XRS is faster than the tC tho.

Even xA and xB are lighter, they still have less pony than a rolla, the corolla still have the better power to weight ratio.

How fast do you think the 06Yaris 3door can go? 0-60mph and power to weight ratio also?

Because Im thinking of buying one with 5MT leather wrapped steering wheel and power "stuff" just for fun!, you know its just $13,000 and I'll install a light turbo,Intake, exhaust upgrade,Unichip, and a nice suspension job from Tein and offcourse install some timing computers you know the system that counts 1/4 mile times 0-60,fuel eco topspeed, etc. like the one from the Swedish supercar Koenigsegg CC-R.:D

The Yaris 3 Door will probably be similar to an xA in acceleration since it is still suppose to use the same 1.5 Liter engine and the weight will most likely go up a little bit (over the previous generation Yaris, or ECHO Hatchback here in Canada).

    2000 Acura Integra TYpe-R
    + Weight : 2639lbs
    + Power : 195hp
    + Ratio : 13.53lbs / hp

    2000 ECHO - Stock
    + Weight : 2020lbs
    + Power : 108hp
    + Ratio : 18.70lbs / hp

    2000 ECHO - Modified
    + Weight : 2020lbs
    + Power : 150hp
    + Ratio : 13.46lbs / hp

So yah, a modified ECHO with 150hp (depending ultimately on gearing, because both cars are geared pretty good) might beat an Integra Type-R (or at least give it a good run)

yeah I cant believe that the aveo only gets around 28 in the city and 36 on the highway which is the same rating as the 98-99 corollas.

It is a rebadged Daewoo, thats why. The "E-tech" motor in the Aveo is the same (or very similar) to the one in the Lanos, Nubira, Leganza, etc.
Funny how GM can use crappy motors and sell them in a new car, and give a crap warranty (3yr, 3,600miles) If I remember right, when it was a daewoo it would get 10yr 100,000miles (before they were bought out)

And I've driven an auto 03 corolla and an auto xA, the corolla definately feels faster

the 125 hp is from the blitz supercharger. the few turbo scions are putting down around 135-145.
