    Corolla Top Speed?

Hey people how fast can your Corolla go? and also is the 110MPH topspeed true?, because my girlfriend has a Kia Sephia and it went 135MPH then she intently not "instantly" fried her engine so she can replace it with a Lexus ES330 which she did get a month ago.

My Corollas latest top speed is:35MPH LOL I never drove it that far yet, the only time I drove it is to the Guitar shop to buy a Yamaha oldschool style guitar and a 60watt AMP. BTW Im a member of a Garage band.:D

I know from Experence of the 9th Gen (non XRS) that the top speed with the govener is 120 when she shuts down and I beleave that the top speed with out the govener is 135 but it takes an insanly long time to get there...

since the swap i haven't done any top speed runs in the corolla (which is strange, since it's been over a year)..... in any case, it does 108mph in 4th gear with a gear left and no limiter (with the 4afe i hit "h" in the old gauges, which is a bit past 110mph).

the mr2 gets up to 100mph in within a quarter mile or so.... i haven't had it at the track yet

my 98 topped out at abit over 110 more like 112, the 01 goes way into the third number on the odometer, dealer says the 01-02 and above can go up to 141 max with minor redline of the engine. i think it will hit that speed considering i stayed with the accord, but then again both cars are modified, though the govenor has been removed/bypassed on both cars.

Highest indicated speed was 105MPH (verified with handheld GPS) on an almost 4000' stretch of runway - that the locals turned into a drag strip. Magazines have its top speed at 110-115MPH (governed).

Though it may be nice to see what the car can do - the Corolla is a bit too light and the FWD setup and its weight bias is really bad for this type of experiment. Right around 80-90MPH the car can get light and will be ready swap ends on you - regardless of what suspension and tire/wheel setup you are running.

If you guys want to find out - do it at a strip, not on the street. Road hazards at 100MPH wiil come at you 147ft per second. The best drivers in the world have reaction times in the tenths of seconds - the Corolla will travel it own length in one tenth of a second.

Duh! that is why i had that piece of metal slapped on the create down force in the front and the rear. i explained this along time ago i think it was under (carbon fiber suspension tie rod or something like that). i can take it wll over whati marks and have no problems with the exception of my wipers wanting to go up and fly off. i usually remove them when there is good weather.down here the interstates are long strips of road and the turns are like the nascar type, and i love it.

Downforce is a funny thing - some items that would look like they would increase downforce actually make less of it or ruin the aerodynamics of the body (includes diffusers, canards, kicked out panels, spoilers, etc.) But it still would not be enough to overcome the basic shape of the car. Doesn't mean that all these mods won't help - aero tweaks are like power tweaks - every little bit helps.

But for guys that run the car out to figure out the top speed - keep it on the track, not on the streets. Doesn't matter if the car was made for speed - I wouldn't run it that fast on the road anywhere (including areas in the west like Arizona and Nevada - where you can drive hundreds of miles and see maybe a handful of other people, nothing out there. They sweep the tracks with trucks and the layout well defined - don't have that with roads, plus not to mention hazards (piece of sheet metal on the road, tire retread (alligator to some), critters, etc.)

My topspeed was 111 on the GPS navigation in my laptop Im driving solo that time so I cant get a pic or else I'll lose control of it.

    My Corollas specs
    2003 Toyota Corolla S
    4 Speed automaticOD
Weight with driver is around 2500+lbs without the spare tire and near empty fuel the 2400+ spec weight is dry so its not accurate
Topspeed to date is 111MPH according to GPS at 5700RPM at I-10 AM2:15 I think its in Texas I want to go faster but I hit a rabbit I slowed down to 78mph after that and the only mod I have is the TRD filter and a something called tornado that just gives you an "airy" sound

exactly! every bit helps. i did notice a significant difference when i did this addition. down here the onyl thing you have to worry about hitting are birds. which in the interstate itself it still rare. and the part that i travel in is all new road. it just other cars you have to watch out for at times.

When I test drove an XRS it indicated 220kmh for me (about 135~137mph)... it was nice... very stable too... felt comfortable considering the speed...

Top speed, that depends :) Mine only can get up to about 110 - 115 on a straight away with no wind but if I tossed a rolls royce turbine engine in it like that eclipse on ebay I'm guess in nutral I could do 200 - 300mph on the salt flats. :)

I got 110 on my 05 S 5spd (stock) so it says, but wit so many damn restrictions it will be hard to tell what the max is. Oh yea and that kia sephia can't do 135. Unless its was heavily modified, becase I could barely get my mother-laws sephia pass 100.

GPS isn't a very good means of measuring speed.

How do you figure that? I work with GPS all the time - even the civilian stuff is surprisingly accurate. The top vehicle monitoring systems out there use GPS to calculate vehicle speeds on the street and strip.

actually gps is very accurate... even civilian gps is really accurate!

Although not perfect I would say civilian gps with at least 3 - 4 sat locks is abotu as accurate as the speedo...

the speed governer on the 2000 roll aI think is around 115.... I hit it once in my life when I was dumber but I dont suggest people go try out their top speed on the road! Unless you want to try to kill yourself... never know what may happen

I topped out at a little past 110 with 4 people and luggage in the car. Mine does tend to get squirrely with less weight in the car, although it could be because I'm past due for an alignment.

My GPS must suck then. Because I held my speed perfectly on the highway with my GPS and it jumped around between 60 - 65mph at each reading and I was holding my speed perfectly according to my onboard speedo. Anyways that being said I still don't think GPS is super accurate, maybe if you averaged out the readings over a long distance it would be more accurate.

I topped my old 97 out twice. Once on stock suspension, once lowered. It was scary and stupid, especially so on the stock suspension and tires.

Ive since wised up and havent been past 80-85 in the Civic.
